WhatsApp Makes a Leap to Business and Consumer Profiles

By: Charles Drafall

Many businesses have a Neanderthal marketing and sales strategy. Dysfunctional outdated work relationship results in lost clients and reduced sales. However, slowly but surely, the social media strategies are turning the corner from product focus to consumer focus. WhatsApp has made that leap to allow business with a function to reach their consumers on their updated app. Creating profiles helps the first impressions. Being able to have more information on the app helps the persona profiles. B2C connections and interactions are more important for the final sale. No longer can the marketing and sales teams rely on one-way communications to gain or maintain clients. WhatsApp makes a shift to business and consumer persona profiles. One method is landline connections, similar to MagicJack. “Businesses can link their accounts to a landline phone number” (Peterson). The Wi-Fi call function is a great tool for business but including a landline call forwarding to WhatsApp will eliminate lost calls. “WhatsApp offers a unique opportunity because it appeals to a more global user base that’s more accustomed to messaging businesses and people” (Peterson). My friend that owns a small Pizzeria can now forward his business landline calls to his WhatsApp on this phone. When he is out for a delivery or picking up supplies, he will not lose a call. His business WhatsApp profile can also inform the consumer of updated deals or store hours. Another alternative factor is the ability for WhatsApp B2C communications — “The app will enable marketers to more easily manage their conversations with customers” (Peterson). Knowing the consumer is important and having a profile function helps the relationships. Just as consumers want to know the history and functionality of the company, the businesses are more interested in the consumer’s interest. “WhatsApp Business marks the latest opportunity for brands looking to communicate with customers” (Peterson). The profiles will enable this natural relationship.
