Natal Iman Ginting’s blockbuster 25-year career at PT. Telkom Indonesia has molded him as the cloud-based supply chain and logistics subject matter expert in the incumbent telco in the largest market (population 260M, GDP USD 930B) in ASEAN.
Natal has consistently proven to be ahead of the curve as the brainchild of TelkomCloud a joint project between Telkom and Microsoft when cloud computing was still nascent and launched cloud computing into the mainstream market in Indonesia. Natal’s vision then continued in the form of logistics-as-a-service at Integrated Logistics Community Services (ILCS), a joint venture between Telkom and the Port of Indonesia, the incumbent national port.
ILCS as a cloud service streamed through Telkom’s connectivity pipes became a huge commercial success and Natal then moved from shipping logistics to replicate his success in forming yet another startup in trucking logistics as Managing Director of Telkom Metra Logistics. Clearly, the board at Telkom holds Natal in such high regard as an intrapreneur that he is the wash-rinse-repeat go-to man for cloud-based logistics services having proven himself in shipping logistics and now to replicate that success in trucking logistics.
Natal is also the Chairman of Telkom subsidiary Bosnet Distribution Indonesia, a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) distribution solution provider that manages the end-to-end distribution of fast moving consumer goods. As Chairman, CEO or Managing Director, Natal drives the strategic direction of these Telkom subsidiaries and assembles the key pieces of talent, technology, and business to achieve commercial success. Chynge is honoured to have an executive with clear vision and leadership on our Board of Advisors.
Natal is passionate in multi-modal logistics comprising air, sea and land and is especially focused on the last-mile delivery of goods to the small shops locally known as tokos and warongs. Natal also reiterates that the Shariah-certification of the Stellar blockchain resonates well in Indonesia, the largest Muslim population in the world. Natal reflects:
When I first heard the Chynge vision from Joe [Tusin, Chynge CEO & Founder], it was clear to me there are natural synergies between logistics of fast-moving consumer goods and payments which in itself is the supply chain and logistics of money. The challenges in international logistics of money or goods are identical and the last mile delivery of money or goods to the unbanked is the financial inclusion puzzle of Indonesia.
Chynge understands cross-border payments is a multi-dimensional problem requiring the brainpower of diverse backgrounds such as ex-banker Lim Cheng Teck, Stellar blockchain expert Boris Reznikov, payments guru Richard Oh and the full complement of the Chynge Board of Advisors.
Natal’s excitement in logistics and in payments is contagious and he has framed the ecosystem for payments and logistics to co-exist seamlessly as he works closely with Chynge Indonesia. It’s full steam ahead from here.
Welcome, Pak Natal, to the Chynge team!
