In this article, i will provide a small and very basic/simple insight over Noia Network project, together with very useful links:

  • Brief introduction;
  • Tech development;
  • Business development;
  • Tokenomics overview;

Noia Network started in 2018 as a Distributed Peer-to-Peer content delivery network powered by blockchain, but soon, the development team found problems at the core of the internet, mainly caused by an outdated protocol (BGP) and a solution was needed.

Today, Noia is attempting to solve this problem by applying Segment Routing and IPv6 (SRv6), together with Distributed Ledger technologies (Blockchain), creating a Programmable Internet.

Noia Cache

Noia Network global distribution (noia.network/network)

Noia Cache is a Network-as-a-Service functioning Content Delivery Infrastructure Layer, whose aim is to improve the efficiency of content delivery across the internet, employing spare bandwidth capacity from household computers, routers and data centers.

Based on a blockchain smart contracts layer, Noia Network creates a widely distributed caching layer for content to be delivered through, counting at the present moment with 6772 total nodes, 735 24/7 actives, with ~36TB available storage space, having significant cost reductions in delivering content.

NOIA Cache can be used in conjunction with, and as a complement to, any existing hosting or CDN service, including large content providers, and by being open sourced, it can also be used to build private networks.

Noia is currently in testnet phase, being mainnet expected for Q1 2020.
You can join the testnet following this link: dashboard.
Currently, there is a weekly airdrop for node runners of 200 Noia Tokens.
More information : instructions to join the testnet.

Noia Cache usage growth

Noia is currently serving over 150 websites with ~25TB allocated storage.

Internet routing today doesn’t takes in consideration health of the network paths. It will basically route content through the shortest path without taking in consideration any other variable.

Noia is building a system that does take in to account the performance of paths, by measuring those paths, and then routing the traffic along various segments to bypass areas with degradation.

In short, programmable internet is a widely dispersed network of Segment routing and IPv6 enabled routers managed by intelligent software-defined routing algorithms.

Internet today is like a basic road traffic app. It will tell you the shortest path to the destination, but does not take in consideration the amount of traffic, congestion, accidents, and so on. The new programmable internet, will not only check for the shortest route, as it will evaluate it’s health, checking all variables presented above.

When you have a network outage, and you lose the connection, with segment routing, you take the control and the global knowledge out of the internet and the routers, and the applications themselves can choose the path to use because it might have better performance, and part of the system Noia is building is doing that constant measure of those paths putting the segments together, in order to find an alternative path, to bypass that congestion to reach the destination, and has measured performance to send traffic that way.

Network outages, can cost over an year, around $700 billion to enterprises. By routing content through Noia Network, this cost can be significantly reduced.

DITEX

Decentralized Internet Transit Exchange, in a nutshell, will be an online marketplace where anyone can buy and sell access points manually or autonomously, having the ability to chose the best path available for them. Noia Token will be used for the transactions.

Partnerships — Supporters — Future Plans

In this article, i will only provide a list of the current Noia partners and in a new one, i will go more in dept to explain the purpose of these partnerships.

I would like to start saying that a pioneer in the internet world, William B. Norton, Co-Founder of Equinix (the largest data center operator in the world — currently valued at ~$42B), and author of the book “The Internet Peering Playbook: Connecting to the Core of the Internet”, joined Noia as a Co-founder and Chief Technical Liaison,
and,
Cisco, one of the biggest network companies, has added Noia code to their segment routing data base and will continue to work closely. Note: Not an official partnership yet.

Partners:

  • Tomochain — PoS blockchain network;
  • Whitebit — Network solutions;
  • 100TB — Provider of web hosting solutions;
  • Cherryservers — Bare Metal Cloud services provider;
  • E-Shelter — Carrier-neutral supplier of data center services;
  • Baltneta — One of the largest ISP’s in the Baltic and Nordic regions;
  • Tutotoons — Mobile entertainment company;
  • SuperTree — Gaming platform built using meta-blockchain technology;
  • Strive — Leading Content Delivery Network;
  • RampRate — Global sourcing advisory for IT infrastructure.
  • Microsoft — The startups program;

Supporters:

  • Blockcrafters;
  • Blockwater;
  • Invictus Capital;
  • Gatepool.

Overview of future developments:

  • we are about to finalize the timing and details for NOIA’s technical road map.
  • continue initiating compelling collaborations with data centers, ISP’s, cloud service & other tech companies plus prominent entities from the blockchain space.
  • continue contributing to various open-source technologies & advancements that NOIA helps progress towards global adoption.
  • fulfillment of NOIA’s Node Network, comprised of various target audiences and geographical locations, though Programmable Internet — thereby expanding usage and adoption among end-users as well as implementation by enterprises on a larger scale.
  • build global brand awareness for NOIA through expanded marketing efforts (including new marketing director), to spur Programmable Internet adoption.
  • maintain focus on incremental exploitation of markets, focusing on both global and local targeted exchanges, gradually expanding to ever wider audiences as we scale.

Tokenomics

Token utility:

  • Buy and sell access point at DITEX (Decentralized Internet Transit Exchange);
  • Staking for Masternodes after the release of the mainnet (Q1 2020)

Main points unique to Noia Token Metrics:

Small initial circulating supply:

  • Only 1.41% of total supply was made available on the day of listing;
  • 1.7% available within the first 2 weeks after listing;
  • 2.1% within the first month;
  • 3.1% within the first 2 months.

FMP — Foundational Members Program:

  • Early investors have the opportunity to grab some of the available circulating supply and hold for a period of 5 months to ensure a bonus airdrop of 50–100% of their net buy volume (buying volume minus selling volume). This will help keep the price stable at early stage.
