Unclench your heart; a Taoist (inspired) poem
unclench your heart -
let your light shine,
through the cracks of complacency
don’t try and hide the beauty
of imperfection -
this is your perfection:
that you have loved so deeply and completely -
that you have cracked open -
this is how the love flows back in.
unclench your heart -
shake off rigidity:
wave goodbye to grasping, &
let the universe in -
let it lift you up,
with the caress of breath -
let it soften you,
adapting, with flexibility -
there is strength.
unclench your heart -
dive deep into the well:
into to the place where all things grow
to the seed of seeds &
rest -
quench your thirst:
realize your true essence of light
and unclench your heart.
[Hi friends!
I wrote this poem quite a few years ago, while reading the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu. At the time, I was inspired by the line ‘unclench your heart’ - and this poem flowed from that meditation.
This poem comes to you from my heart to yours, as an offering. An offering, flying to you on wings of fungi-fed air. An offering, seeding its way into your soul, on its way to growing roots of resilience.
A spoken word rendition of this very poem, can be witnessed here. My latest, a call for individual and collective remembering, can be absorbed here. Another (if you’re feelin’ wacky) on dew drops & napping bees can be found here. Till the next one,
xo -
