Power of Discipline
Today is day 54 of the #100DaysOfEnglish challenge, as I mentioned in that first article I committed to write an article of at least 250 words per day on Medium. I have been doing this to improve my writing skills in English because my native language is Spanish.
During all this time I did not fail a single day, and I am truly amazed by that because in my deepest feelings I thought I was going to fail after a week or two. Although I was able to maintain discipline throughout this time, good days, bad days, motivated days and even lazy days. And that is why I am writing this article now.
Today is definitely a really bad day, I woke up shivering, with fever and pain in the whole body. In the morning I was worried if I would be able to write today’s article, luckily my body is feeling a little better, enough to turn on the laptop and write.
I think that if I were to try the same thing in other circumstances, without having gone through this challenging experience, I would probably give up the idea of writing and lie in bed until I fully recovered. But I have a habit, a commitment, and a discipline developed that makes me meet the challenge day by day.
Best of all, I am now aware that if I set my mind to something I know that with discipline I can accomplish my goals, even now that I am technically halfway to success. I want to transfer the same dedication to other areas of my life such as exercise, studies, and career because this gave me a mental power that I didn’t have before, I was probably fulfilling my goals with obligation after procrastinating.
So if you want to experiment with this kind of self-control, try to do a daily activity for more than 30 consecutive days, it can be a kind of challenge that can show your mind that you are capable of achieving things if you can be committed and stick to the plan. This will give you enough experience to discover the power of discipline for yourself.
