Dragonereum: how to make bets on decentralized dragons battles

Since you’re accustomed to pretty much all game mechanics, we can now start talking about more complex things, such as gladiator battles.

Those of you lucky enough to already participate in Beta testing will be familiar with this exciting aspect of the game, however for you poor souls who haven’t experienced the action yet we will give a brief overview of how this works.

Every player can win GOLD or ETH by participating in gladiator battles. This can be very entertaining and exciting, but beware, don’t get too carried away! In order to get the full experience from Dragonereum you also need to spend time on other aspects of the game.

In gladiator battles you have several options available to you: you can start a new battle, accept a challenge set by an opponent, or you can simply bet upon the outcome of other players’ battles. Here we will look at each option step by step and make you familiar with all the details.

Starting a new gladiator battle

To participate in a gladiator battle, you should open the Arena tab. There you will see three options:

  1. Regular battle
  2. Gladiator battle
  3. Battle record

After selecting a Gladiator battle tab, click a button “Create a new battle”, choose one of your favorite dragons, and set your bet, in GOLD or ETH, that you want to place on the outcome, and the number of Ethereum blocks before the battle begins.

After that you can sit back, crack your knuckles, and smile confidently to yourself while you wait for your opponents to take up the challenge, safe in the knowledge that you will be victorious!!! Once a long queue of your rivals is formed, or at least one player decides to accept your challenge, you get a notification, and then you can start a battle with one particular player, choosing from the list. After the confirmation of the battle, combat will then commence within your set time frame — after a certain number of blocks get mined (please see our WP for details).

The battle is the same as our regular battle. If you are unfamiliar how these work you can find this information covered in our previous article.

Once the combat is decided you get a reward, of course the generosity of this reward depends on the outcome, whether you win or lose.

Accepting a combat challenge set by an opponent

Sometimes it’s necessary to show that your dragon isn’t just going to sit there and be bullied, take the fight to the opponent and show your dragon is no pushover by accepting the challenges of pretenders to the throne. To apply for a battle, go to Gladiator battle tab, click on any dragon with a “Waiting for opponent” sign, and then wait to see if they dare take on the champion!

The principle is pretty much the same as in the case of starting your own battle — you have to choose one of your dragons, and you get added to the list of contenders. If you get accepted as an opponent, the countdown starts, and when it ends, your battle will begin. The winner gets rewards after the fight.

Betting on other players

Why put your dragon through the stress of battle when you can simply win GOLD/ETH by predicting the outcome of other players battles, after all, as an experienced dragon master you already know the outcome right…?

Just choose one of the upcoming battles, choose a player whom you deem worthy of your bet, place a bet and wait. After the battle, all deposited funds of losing players get redistributed among winners.

Anti-cheating policy

To prevent cheating, and by cheating we mean competing against yourself using two accounts, we introduce an additional fair play rule: all players, who placed a bid and got rejected, get a certain percentage of the bets of two main players (approximately 7.5%). This rule not only prevents cheating, but also incentivizes betting, because everyone gets back his ETH, spent on betting.

To summarize it all, you define how much you bet, you choose your opponents yourself, and you get a chance to win some GOLD/ETH! What better way is there to spend your evenings?
