I have started a podcast series which looks at the history of hemp in Ireland. Episodes will occasionally look at contemporary topics and feature interviews with individuals from the Irish hemp industry.

The first episode of the Dublin Hemp Museum podcast was recently released and you can listen here.

This episode looks at Dr. George Sigerson who in 1866 published a pamphlet entitled ‘Cannabiculture in Ireland; its profit and possibility’. Dr. Sigerson was born in Co. Tyrone in 1836 but spent most of his life in Dublin. During his life, he was a scientist, a zoologist, a botanist, a politician and a writer. His background and interests make him an ideal candidate to write about hemp.

Brian Houlihan is the curator of the Dublin Hemp Museum and regularly writes about hemp. Follow him on Twitter @dubhempmuseum and @houlihanbrian. You can also find the museum on Facebook.
