Dymension 35-C testnet launched with the deployment of the first IBC-enabled rollup marking the beginning of a new era of blockchains in the IBC ecosystem. Now it’s time to further show the capabilities of the Dymension system, it’s time to release the first IBC-enabled EVM RollApp on the 35-C testnet.

The EVMOS team brought the EVM to app-chains, Dymension is bringing the EVM to RollApps and powering it with the EVMOS token.

The EVM RollApp is a groundbreaking new tool that utilizes Ethermint, mainly built by the EVMOS team. The EVM RollApp utilizes Ethermint on top of Dymension’s RDK (RollApp Development Kit). This allows for developers to deploy their favorite EVM compatible smart contracts while having access to the customizability, low latency, and easy bootstrapping that RollApps provide.

Provided here are RPC end-points for deploying smart contracts to the EVM RollApp. Developers get ultra-fast, low-latency execution environment for order-books, EIP experimentation, and innovative game development. Adding to the fact that RollApps are IBC-enabled which means access to the growing IBC ecosystem.

The EVM RollApp will utilize IBC transported tokens of EVMOS to pay for gas fees making it a positive-sum modular chain. The testnet EVM RollApp will publish data transactions to Celestia’s Mocha testnet and state updates to the Dymension Hub.

RollApps have dedicated block producers called Sequencers. The sequencer produces blocks every 0.2 seconds meaning the user experience is faster than other EVM chains and Ethereum rollups.

To showcase a glimpse of the significant UX enhancements that EVM RollApps provide, the Dymension team has deployed a fork of Uniswap v2. Users can swap different tokens here such as testnet DYM, RAX, tEVMOS and more. Please note these are testnet tokens and do not have any value. This application is solely for the purpose of demonstration.

Users will be able to use the EVMOS testnet faucet and request tokens to their address. Once the tokens are received they can utilize the Dymension Portal to IBC transfer the tokens to the EVM RollApp (via the Dymension Hub) and using tEVMOS as gas on the RollApp.

What to expect next?

  • Want an ultra-fast IBC-enabled blockchain for perpetual contracts?
  • Want to use the blockspace of existing blockchains?
  • Want to extend EVM capabilities and experiment with EIPs in a production environment?
  • Want to build innovative games with low-latency and never increasing data publication costs?

Dymension RollApps can unlock all of this and more.

Join us for the upcoming incentivized testnet in which builders will be able to deploy their own RollApps. Visit the documentation for more information on how to build your own RollApp to prepare.
