The First Universo Passport

Today Universo Passport originated. Making a passport has never been that easy. There is a feeling that it is the beginning of something great and liberating.

The simplicity of a passport is a huge advantage. It was made from sheets of a notebook that I carry with me.
Everything is written with a simple pencil. It symbolizes that the concept of Universe passport is flexible for updates. And the last thing the passport needed — to be unified in one. I used a keyring for that goal. It is symbolic that a passport, a travel document could be made in several moments just with what you have with you. I used only the things I have in my backpack.

The idea of a passport has been in my mind for a while. I was thinking if I could be willing to have any passport or ID — I want to create this identity myself. There could be thoughts that it is important to learn more about passport-making and usage of related materials and technologies. But I believe that to create an Identity you do not need to be reliant on external factors or those who want to exercise power by making themselves authorities over you. The whole system of identities, passports, states, nations, and citizenship needs to be changed.

Let’s have a look at the origins of the citizenship concept. The most widespread theory that the concept of citizenship was created in the early city-states of ancient Greece because of the fear of slavery. Any Greek person might fall into debt and therefore might become a slave. They arranged political institutions not to be enslaved. Only Greek males could be citizens and had more rights than women, slaves, children, foreigners, and other non-citizens. And still, there are people without passport and citizenship who are heavily discriminated. But how would it be without any risk of being enslaved or excluded and if nobody could limit the freedom of movement?

Universo Passport (other names are Universe Passport, Universa Passport, Universal Passport) is intended to be a travel document and identity with a free and liberated concept, where you can choose your identity yourself if you need any.

You can choose what you identify with and make an identity that you consider your own. And even if someone does not recognize that identity — recognition is a secondary matter. The first step is already made.

Everyone is welcome to create Universe Passport themselves. You can also apply here https://forms.gle/Uv6mM6LabdRuqLyFA or express the willingness to get one. You will get the passport with the same concept as the first Universe Passport and of course your wishes will be considered. When the concept is updated, you will be able to get an updated passport. If you are interested in this concept — you can write to me and join me in doing something very liberating that can influence many spheres of our life. My contacts and the ways of supporting me can be found here https://00090.github.io/. The idea is intended to be as free and liberating as possible and all steps towards it should follow this principle of liberation of everything and for everyone.

To be absolutely free that the very existence is an act of liberation.
The sheet of paper is taken from the notebook and this part is left untouched and symbolizes the simplicity of liberation of identity.

Freedom of movement is universal. Everyone has the liberty to travel, reside in, and/or work in any part of the state where one pleases within the respect for the liberty and rights of others. And everyone also has the right to leave any country, including his or her own, and to return to his or her country at any time.

I was thinking a lot about passports, citizenship, state, and statelessness. Lately, I was reading a lot of materials on these topics. 17 days ago there was a first note about the name of the passport and some other concepts that will be applied later. One of these ideas is to include different writing systems, alphabets, and languages.

Today I was walking and there was a thought in my mind, «if I create a passport today, the day of creation will be 4th of September, 2019. I do not have any associations with this date. Is it a good date or I should wait longer for something special?»

I got back to my laptop and continued learning. I discovered more of the World Passport website. World passport was created to promote world citizenship concept and freedom of movement. I learned that Garry Devis refused US citizenship and was traveling the world using World Passport. I read some letters that representatives of different governments (Ecuador, Mauritania, Tanzania, Togo, Vatican, Zambia) wrote official letters indicating that their state supports and accepts World Passports[1] and that 188 countries accepted World Passport at least once.[2] And then I was watching the interview where it was said that World Service Authority was founded on September 4. I checked the current time and yes it was the 4th of September. I realized that it should happen now.

My identity

As I can choose my identity myself I decided to put in my passport the name that was invented by me earlier — Vioxendez.

I really wanted to have a name that I choose myself. However, I could not identify with common names. So, once I decided to write my new and it was written by me spontaneously. I was surprised that happened like this and all the letters are combined together in my name that I really like and use it since then.

The concept of age neutrality is also very important and I believe people would be freer from time and age concepts. The concept of gender neutrality became more widespread and there are gender neutrality options in some IDs. I was thinking, if I would have a passport — it would be age neutral as well. I did not find any movement for age neutrality and it is time to start this movement.

Some alternative and more free concepts of passports and nations

In all the time of history, there are those who want to identify themselves with something universal rather than a particular nation or place. Some could call themselves as cosmopolitans, global citizens — someone who identifies with being part of an emerging world community and whose actions contribute to building this community’s values and practices. Many thinkers and philosophers refused to identify themselves with a limited social group and preferred to identify with the world, cosmos or universe.

I would like to mention the initiatives that aim to change something in how the nations work.

World Passport

World Passport

There is something in common between the concepts of Universo Passport and World Passport. World Service Authority was founded in 1957, on September 4. It is impressive that they also stated the willingness to be inclusive towards different languages. They use 7 languages: English, Russian, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, French, and Esperanto. The name of the world passport is written in all these languages on the passport’s cover and every field has translations to these 7 languages. And as I mentioned earlier, representatives of Ecuador, Mauritania, Tanzania, Togo, Vatican, Zambia wrote official letters indicating that their state supports and accepts World Passports[1] and that 188 countries accepted World Passport at least once.[2] The founder Garry Devis refused to be a citizen of the US to be Global Citizen and was traveling the world using World Passport. It is amazing that those who have the vision that supports liberation and equality are promoting these ideas and contribute to the liberating of everyone.

Liberland

The Free Republic of Liberland is a sovereign state located between Croatia and Serbia on the west bank of the Danube River. The country is located on a territory that was Terra Nullius. The motto of Liberland is “To live and let live”, which has a very good principle in it and could set a good guiding principle for all principles of Liberland.

I’ve been helping with the First Liberland Music Festival and stayed for a while. It it nice and in a certain way inspiring to interact with those who are willing to build something new. The new country has the chances to build a better system and help other alternatives to succed. If someone starts something unusual, brave and promising there would be those who support the idea and are willing to help in improving it. I am glad to help Liberland and looking forward to other ways to do something together. Liberland is challenging the status quo and by doing so it is also a part of changing many things to the better.

Romani nation

I was thinking of a decentralized nation concept. The Romani nation seems to be a decentralized nation — Romani people have no country and many are unwilling to participate in governmental systems, police, etc. It doesn’t have many characteristics that other nations have but still, it is a nation. Quite different from other nations and it is wonderful. Decentralized nation. For human rights and some formal issues and initiatives as Romani symbolics, passports and so on there is Irternational Romani Union. At the same time, passports and organizational structures are not very representative for Romani people in general, that’s why there is a need for an update below.

Romani people

As the majority of Romani people are quite far from being statists and not so interested in adopting governmental principles, structures and institutions in the Romani community — probably, this is even better. It is more challenging to be free from those institutions rather than accepting them as something desired. Some Romani people may be willing to have their “own country” — those initiatives are good as well, because it helps the rights and freedoms of Romani people to be respected: there are some villages and districts with the majority of Romani population, but there is only one Romani municipality in the world in Macedonia — Shuto Orizari, where I’ve been to. But there are enough of those who are absolutely not interested in an “own country” — for some people this attitude might be strange because it it widely considered quite good to own something and to have a certain own territory for your nation. Those people usually do not see the development of controlling institutions within Romani community and participation of Romani people in these kind of structures as a good thing as a good thing. And why to have a limited territory when the world is already yours? One Romani legend says that God loved Romani people so much that God did not bind them to some pieces of land like other nations, but gave them the whole world.

Bitnation

I was curious if anyone ever used the concept of a decentralized nation. Then I searched for “decentralized nation” and I found out about Bitnation — decentralized, borderless and voluntary nation. The website that time mentioned that they help to refugees to have an alternative identity card and Visa/Bitcoin card.

Bitnation seeks to provide open-source governance, which includes DIY smart contracts mainly on governance, security, and law. Typically, the choice of governance services is dictated by the place where someone was born or where they reside. In Bitnation you can reclaim your sovereignty and choose the nation that you like or create your own nation.

I liked the ideas of Bitnation. I appreciate inclusiveness to refuges and the idea to establish a liberating, inclusive and decentralized way of governance. I hope to do something cool with Bitnation and get involved.

Nansen passport

An international document that verified the identity of the holder and first began to be issued for stateless refugees. This document was developed in 1922 by the Fridtjof Nansen, Commissioner of the League of Nations for Refugees. In 1942, the governments of 52 states recognized this passport, and it became the first travel document for refugees.

After reading this article, my friend reminded me of the Nansen passport. And since it fits the concept of a more free document and helped some people, I also include it in the list.

Keep going

There are not so many initiatives that aim to change how society works but that is enough to start massive changes in everything. I am willing to support everything that aims to establish a more free and liberated society and way of living. I what to thank everyone that I know. Keep going!

I would be always happy to chat with you and discuss the ideas of freedom and liberation.
