Supporting smaller streamers — Live streaming’s next biggest hit will come from Kick

A key distinguishing feature at Kick is our emphasis on supporting small and medium-sized creators and giving them the necessary tools to kick-start their career and reach the next level of content creation, growing their own unique following in the process.

In a recent interview, I discussed our deal with xQc which has grabbed headlines around the world. This deal perfectly demonstrates that we understand the hard work and dedication that goes into live streaming and truly understand its growing value.

xQc is of course one of the biggest names in the industry, let’s not beat around the bush. But let’s also not forget that only a few years ago his following was far, far less.

We want the next xQc, the next global superstar in this space, to come from Kick.

Creating a platform which has the equipment to help streamers reach such a level is what motivates the entire team at Kick each and every day.

Tools like our industry-changing Creator Programme, dedicated 24/7 live chat support (with real human beings) and incoming mega chat feature (more coming soon on this) all, I believe, empower creators to be their greatest selves.

Of course, not everything is there yet — After all, we are still in our infancy.

We understand that the majority of live streamers are small and medium-sized creators with 10 to 1,000 average viewers. We recognise that smaller creators have fundamentally different priorities than the biggest stars out there; they are concerned with their cost to income ratio, their future growth aspirations, and the price of entering an extremely competitive industry.

Therefore, as a streaming platform, we are dedicated to catering to those specific concerns and continue to actively bring about features that are directly designed for aspirational smaller streamers, designed to help them become the next big thing.

I have mentioned in the past about our game changing 95/5 income split which is simply unparalleled in our space.

Not only is it unheard of in the industry, but it is undeniably resulting in other platforms out there changing their own outdated revenue models (not to the same degree I might add). This is ultimately a great thing for the industry as a whole.

Our soon-to-be-released Mega Chat function will incorporate this 95/5 income ratio, enabling viewers to pay for their comments to stand out during streams, further supporting creators and letting viewers give back directly to the creators themselves.

When combined with our upcoming Creator Programme which will offer streamers hourly wages based on a variety of factors (see this post for further info), we believe that all content creators will be supported and empowered more on Kick than on all other platforms combined.

Over 12 million accounts and counting, over 84 million hours watched in June alone and close to 500,000 active channels… We have incredible plans, including some that you would never believe.

Before I end this blog post, I just want to say that for F1 fans out there, be on the lookout for an insanely cool Alfa Romeo F1 car whizzing around Spa this coming weekend!

The greatest days of live streaming are still to come. The greatest live content is still yet to be produced. The greatest streamers are still yet to finish their first stream. It’s down to us to give the next generation of content creator the tools they need to reach their full potential and to take this thing to the next level.

Mission accepted.

Ed.
