“In this regard, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has issued the following recommendations:”

  1. We should not give mobile phones, tablets, or any electronic devices to our children under 18 months (about 1 and a half years) of age except video calling with family.
  2. “Children in this age learn through physical activity, which is why they should be provided maximum opportunities for that.
  3. In the age of 2–5 years, Children should be allowed an hour of social media use every day. Parents should be supervision at this time when their children use screen time for example laptop, mobiles, tablets etc.
  4. When the children aged 18 –24 months (about 2 years), parents can introduce high quality screen time to their kids for supplements the child’s learning. It is especially important that parents watch the screen time with their kids.
  5. In the age of 6 and onwards, parents should implement a responsible daily limit of screen time.

You do not have noticed that after 6 years of age, the AAP does not recommend a specific daily screen time limit. Because every kid is different and what works for him or herself not work for the other. As a parent, you should ensure that your kid’s screen time is not coming in the way of homework, physical activity, and real-life interactions.

  • The QUALITY OF SCREEN TIME

Screen time for children should not just be measured in the term of quantity but also in the term of its quality. You will understand that not every screen is created equal. A violent video games makes for low- quality screen time while an interactive game that stimulates cognitive development in your kid is an example of high-quality of screen time. With this said, you can make your kid enjoy with the high quality of screen time, that will be a major plus for both you and your child.

The lots of use screen time can cause negative changes in behavior and several types of medical problems in kids.

To the start with, kids under age of 2 can have cognitive development problems.

While the old age people can show changes in behavior like distress and short treatment.

Research has proved that lots of use screentime will take teenagers to depression.

The blue light which is coming from screen will hardly damage the retina in the eye of teenagers and with the passage of time your child will definitely face the vision problem as well.

Research published in JAMA also suggests that children who use digital media in excess have a 10% greater chance of developing Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.

RESULT

Nowadays screen time is a hot topic for kids. If your children are more interested into this technology-feeding zombies, then it is time to going make some rules to overturn the situation. But be careful, you are giving permission to your child come on board with this decision, otherwise, they can act like quite rebellious.
