If your book isn’t a buzz, it’s not the Bible.

PROLOGUE TO HOLY HORMONE BIBLE STUDY POSTS

If you have already read a Holy Hormone post, you’ve already read this.

I don’t know how many posts are left in me but this will be the prologue for anything coming in future, so they will all be directed to this for any newcomers who may be interested.

Obviously, the essence of the posts are Christ and Christ Crucified and Christ Resurrected.

The reason for this article

It has always troubled me that my posts are an exercise in endurance. Not often an easy read, and often so cumbersome that it is impossible to decide if it is nonsense or not.

The opening gambit for the articles has always carried the same tune, “Brace yourself. You’ll be disappointed if you’re after only light entertainment.”

Some comments have been made that I clutter my articles with too much detail. Guilty as charged. I do it because I’ve been told that Medium Clientele are skimmers so, if I want readers, they shouldn’t be held up or they’ll pass by. Mere readership is not the aim. It is the Hungry.

There is more in the contents than a normal, well adjusted person would generally want to know. The detail which makes me a boring person brings the Bible alive for me. You may have to chew a bit because I can’t pretend it is well written (perhaps if I used ChatGPT?). I just do the best I can but, if you are after Emoji Theology, this is not the place for you.

But if you get the taste, there’s more to be found HERE.

Just in case I haven’t made myself clear:-

TRIGGER WARNING: This is not a safe space for those who subscribe to the following quote.

We can say now with considerable confidence that the Bible is not a history of anyone’s past. The story of the chosen and rejected Israel that it presents is a philosophical metaphor of a mankind that has lost its way. The tradition itself is a discourse about recognizing that way. In our historicizing of this tradition, we have lost sight of the Bible’s intellectual centre, as well as of our own.

— Thomas L. Thompson, The Mythic Past, p. xvi.

But the weird name . . . ?

I’ve been blessed with a friend whose Mother Tongue is Hebrew. He said, “When HaShem says, ‘Seek my face,’ think hormones.”

Imagine two young lovers seeking each other in a crowd. Their eyes are darting about, their hearts are pounding, they are alive — then their eyes meet!!! That is the eagerness that God responds to — primitive passion.

When He promises, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart,” He does not lie.

WHEN YOU SHOW INTEREST IN THE WORD OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL SHOW YOU SOMETHING INTERESTING IN THE WORD.

[NOTE: Important words analysed in the posts are identified with Hebrew/Greek transliterations into English and Strong’s Numbers so that whoever wants to can check them out — the recommendation is that you do. I use the Blue Letter Bible (https://www.blueletterbible.org/ BLB)]
