Worship has a purpose

Brace yourself! This is more of a teaching blog than an entertaining one. It may not be an easy read because there is more here than a normal, well adjusted person would normally want to know but it will be worth it. It is the detail which makes me a boring person that brings the Bible alive for me. But if you happen to like what you read, there’s more to be found here.

Everyone has a favourite story

Mine is to do with Worship. Unfortunately I never caught the reference so you will have to believe me. If anyone should recognise it, and knows the source, the reference would be appreciated.

Setting the scene

Not long after the Holocaust, surviving Rabbis from the Nazi murder factories got together somewhere to try and see if they could make sense of the insanity they had just gone through. These guys hadn’t sat out the episode in Johannesburg, New York, or Sydney thinking intellectual thoughts. They had been where the rubber met the road.

The result

After whatever time they decided that no sense could be made of it and the only reasonable thing they could do was to worship HaShem because worshipping the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob was the only thing that could bring sanity into an insane world. (And these guys didn’t have Jesus.)

The forgoing evidence has not been presented to convince any reader but to allow a personal decision to be made. There is much more to know about this subject. Perhaps you’ll pay another visit, sometime.
