So you’re considering getting into spicy content creation. Or maybe you have already started your activity, creating a spicy page and even posted a few pictures. This is certainly an exciting adventure, but it’s everything but walk in the park.

Indeed, many newbies make some strategic mistakes that will cost them some followers, some time… or even money. Fortunately, you’re not alone, and people have made those mistakes before you. Let’s learn from ach other — if you are new to spicy content creation, this article is for you !

#1 Being vague about what you offer

An unconvincing bio, a low number of posts on your spicy page… Those are show you are, at best, a newbie, at worst, a creator who is not serious nor consistent. Write an exciting, descriptive bio even if you haven’t decided what niche you want to be in.

Your fans need to know what they will be getting once they subscribe, and your bio is the perfect place to explain that. They also need to be reassured : “Will I get my money’s worth 🤔”. Having a bunch of media readily posted on your page reassures them.

Also, keep in mind that potential subscribers come from diverse channels. Meaning although you are quite explicit about what you do on your free page, some people may come from IG and have no clue what you propose exactly.

#2 Not building a strong brand identity

Followers and subs come for your physique, but they stay for your personality ! Firstly, because you want people to have a reason to follow YOU, not another content creator. Secondly, because human sexuality is complex, and way more emotional than we think (so no, a few feet pics and super close-up selfies won’t suffice, no matter how hot you are !).

Here are some questions that may help you to create your own brand identity :

  • What unique personality traits do I want to embody as a content creator? Having humor, being assertive and dominant… It can be a real trait of yours, but also a role that you play.
  • What is my distinctive aesthetic that sets me apart from other creators? Can I establish a consistent visual style through color palettes, fonts, clothes, makeup, facial expressions, tone, objects… ?
  • What passions and interests fuel my content creation? What is my niche or area of expertise ? Can I weave in elements of my hobbies or personal experiences to make my content more relatable and engaging ?

#3 Not spending enough time on promotion

Subs have to come from somewhere, right ? It may sound surprising, but it is normal to spend more time on marketing than on actual content creation for your spicy page. A common split-up is 80% marketing, 20% actual spicy content creation. When I say “marketing”, I mean coming up with promotional content, posting it on social media, coming up with clever ways to bring people to your spicy page, analyzing what works and what doesn’t…

Don’t know what to post on social media ? This article might be helpful 😉

#4 Having scattered efforts

Yes, I just advised to promote yourself a lot… and now I’m saying you may do it too much ? Let me explain. Some of you divide all your time and effort to post on TikTok, IG, X, Snapchat, as well as on your spicy page. You don’t need to promote on all social media ! Sounds like a good news, no ? The reason is that, each social media requires a specific content strategy. Given that you must post daily on each of them, it is impossible to grow each of those. If this reassures you, some top 1% creators do not have a TikTok.

You must strategize ! Choose one or two social media you are most at ease with, then be really consistent about it. For example, if you already spend your free time on TikTok and you know all the new trends, create a TikTok ! If you prefer the anonymity that Reddit provides, then go ahead ! Free tip: you can be smart and recycle your content by also sharing your IG videos to TT 😉

#5 Not knowing your worth — aka pricing too low

Some content creators set up subscription price below the market at the beginning, then have a dilemma when they feel like they deserve a raise because they fear losing subs. Don’t undersell yourself at the beginning, don’t give subs whatever they want at a discounted price, do your research to know what you can get with your type of content, your perceived level of attractiveness, your frequency of posting, the rarity of your type of content, etc. If you don’t know where to start, look at similar content creators and dig into subreddits such as r/CreatorsAdvice.

#6 Not reading the TOS

Read the Terms of Service when you create an account, then every 2 months minimum when you are creating content. Indeed, platforms change their TOS very often. Violating the TOS may result in demonetization, account termination, or dreadful legal actions in the worst case.

By reading the TOS, you will learn about allowed content, copyright and intellectual property rights, payment terms, dispute resolution…

Some rules seem to follow from common sense (for example, platforms don’t allow you to sell worn clothes or to drive your fans to a chat platform). Yet you would be surprised to see how many content creators do not realize those kinds of actions are against the TOS.

#7 Falling into agency scams

The spicy content creation industry has been in full-bloom since the pandemic. As new content creators hop onto platforms, some ill-intentioned people try to take advantage of their gullibility, their thirst for quick success, or their laziness.

Is an agency contacting you to propose their services (they take care of all the promotion, you just have to post spicy content) ? Sounds suspicious, especially if you are a newbie. Think about it — serious and reputable agencies shouldn’t need to contact small content creators.

And as a rule of thumb, anytime you ask yourself whether that is a scam — it is.

#8 Not researching the industry

Not doing research before jumping in, assuming it will be easy. Not understanding what it takes to become a spicy content creator. The truth is, becoming a spicy content creator is similar to becoming an entrepreneur. Everything you see posted on their OnlyFans, or OnlyFans alternatives such as FanXhub, is just the tip of the iceberg. If you do not have a sense of business, if you are allergic to taxes, if you have only 4 hours a week to allocate to this activity… then this may not be for you !

No one understand spicy content creation before getting their hands “dirty” ! There are quite some misunderstandings and assumptions about this job, by the public but also by aspiring content creators, who may give up quickly because they underestimated it. Creators are (at the same time) models, influencers, digital marketers, and mostly, entrepreneurs at heart.

Happy hustling,

Anna from FanXhub 💜
