Superchargers are basically devices used for pressure boosting. It helps in increasing air pressure before allowing it to enter into cylinder present in internal combustion engine! Method of increasing any pressure to make air enter engine is known as supercharging. Supercharger kit is made available by many companies which are in manufacturing of such products. Well, this method of supercharging is having both pros and cons.

Supercharger Kit

Pros of supercharging:-

Higher output of power: This method is best known for giving a higher output of power. This is one of the major reasons for installing superchargers for cars.

Helps in the Reduction of the smoke amount coming from exhaust gases: As extra air is forcefully pushed inside the cylinder, it supports in air combustion. It leads to making of lesser generation of smoke.

Supports in making faster acceleration of vehicle: Supercharger starts performing when the engine starts functioning. It gives the engine a boost and supports in making quicker acceleration.

Costs less than a turbocharger: Yes, it’s true that you need to pay less for having a Supercharger kit when compared to the turbocharger.

Cons of supercharging:-

Drags power right from the engine: It’s true that mechanical efficiency of the engine is increased but it drags more power from the engine. Here turbocharger has an advantage as it works without consuming any extra power from the engine.

Causes excessive heat generation: The engine needs to have excellent heat dissipation systems to take advantage of superchargers. It needs to have the power of withstanding the thermal stress caused due to excess generation of heat

Induces too much stress: The engine needs to bear the working against high pressure in addition to bigger explosions which are generated by the cylinder. If vehicle engine is not manufactured in view of these stresses, it can surely damage piston head.

One need to keep in minds both the pros and cons of using a supercharger. It’s true that addition of excess amount of mixture in form of air-fuel in the cylinder will enhance mean effective pressure of the engine. But one should not ignore the drawbacks of the supercharger to avoid any problems. There are 3 major types of this charger available in the market. Depending on the need and the nature of the vehicle one need to select it.

Centrifugal superchargers: It is used in Vehicles & gets powered by an engine with use of the belt-pulley system

Root’s type supercharger: This type consists of two rotors in the shape of epicycloids. Both are of the same shape and keyed on 2 shafts separately. Use of V-belt or gear train is used to power any of the one available shafts.

Vane type supercharger: Use of several vanes is done which gets mounted on supercharger drum. The vanes are pushed outside with the use of pre-compressed springs.

We already mentioned that there are many companies which are manufacturing Supercharger kit. If you are looking for best quality kit then you can bank on Goat Performance Products. We are sure that you will find the products of superior quality here.
