<TLDR> Build a cool project for the COQ INU ecosystem in the next 2 weeks and potentially win a share of 10 Billion $COQ </TLDR>

In Wojak’s Medium Article from December 29th, he outlined his thoughts around COQ INU, focussing on memetic principles and the important pillars of Community, Decentralisation and Universality.

Wojak also hinted that something was coming today.

Well, that time is now — 01/01/2024 4:20 PM

It is with great pleasure that I get to introduce to you The Inaugural COQ INU Hackathon!!

developers, developers, developers, developers

Please, if you don’t consider yourself a developer, do not switch off! If you have participated in any of the community led Twitter/X Spaces hosted by Chikn Bokcast or WEX, you will have heard me reinforcing that COQ INU is first and foremost a community project; and importantly underlining the fact that builders are everywhere — building a community is as important as building a solidity contract, an analytics platform, or an NFT project.

Thought Leaders Are Everywhere!

In the spirit of Community, Decentralisation, and Universality, our goal is to be inclusive as we run this initiative!

So what’s this Hackathon all about anyway?

The cries of ‘wen’ are often heard throughout crypto. Poor devs and founders, bombarded by their communities extracting alpha, consuming those products provided to them.

As no individual owns COQ INU, we feel the need to try to flip this common narrative. Instead of the community coming to us demanding the wen, what, where, how, and why — Wojak and I, as part of this community would like to turn the tables back on you and ask you to provide that alpha, that use case, that wen!

How The Turntables!

We’ve put together a little prize fund of 10 Billion $COQ which will be divided amongst the winners of this contest!

You Had Me At 10 Billion $COQ

I’ve been waffling on enough and I guess some details would probably go well here…

WHO: Every COQ INU Community Member — Remember that Avalanche is a community of builders. If you have an idea, but can’t implement it, then reach out in the community and maybe work together with somebody who can build!

WHAT: The Inaugural COQ INU Hackathon

WHERE: Everywhere!!

WEN: Starting immediately, running for 2 weeks. Submissions are due by Monday January 15th @ 4:20PM EST

HOW: Get your thinking caps on, imagine and build something for the COQmunity. It could be a DeFi/MemeFi Protocol, some kind of community leaderboard, an analytics platform, a marketing campaign, a tipping mechanism, a game, the ideas are endless.

WHY: The goal should be about building strength in COQ INU and its community. It shouldn’t be about extracting from the community, but more providing to the community.

Submission of your project is going to be via email. (Worry not, you can always setup a new email account with gmail/outlook/proton etc to avoid doxxing!)

You will need to email your submission to: hackathon at coqinu dot com and include the following information:

  • Your Info, Socials — Twitter/Discord/TG if you have them!
  • Name of your project/submission
  • Links to what you’ve built — could be a website, a github, or gitbook, whatever you’ve delivered — don’t feel constrained. Remember we are favouring completed projects — not just ideas, although ideas are definitely welcome!
  • A description of what you’ve built, how it benefits the COQ INU community as a whole (Does it use or burn $COQ? Does it build a treasury for the project? Does it build the $COQ community or following?). Feel free to include as much information as possible, you can include video submissions if you feel that would help!

Yeah yeah, that’s great — but tell me more about the BILLIONS of $COQ

There will be an evaluation period post submission. During this period a panel of judges including Luigi DeMeo, John Nahas, Cluck Norris, and Gribbly will assess and rank the submissions.

The prize fund will be split as follows:

1st Place: 5 Billion $COQ

2nd Place: 2.5 Billion $COQ

3rd Place: 1.5 Billion $COQ

The remaining 1 Billion $COQ will be split amongst other entries that were deemed exceptional, but didn’t quite make the top 3!

The judges will take into consideration many areas whilst assessing the submissions. As you consider your project, know that there will be focus on well thought out, well executed and documented submissions.

We will favour implemented solutions, we are looking for your help to build out our ecosystem!

Suitable projects will be shared by the COQ INU socials, and added to a coming integrations page on the website. Our goal is not to take your project, but to support and embrace it!

Even those that don’t win the prizes that are up for grabs, will still be winners — as everything we build collectively as a community will help strengthen us, and deliver those pillars of Community, Decentralisation and Universality!

Good luck everyone. I plan to host a think tank style space on X this evening at 8PM EST, let’s all get together and brainstorm some ideas! Watch out for the link from my X.

***January 3rd 2023 UPDATE***

We have been blessed by a generous “anonymous whale” benefactor who has kindly DOUBLED the prize fund for the hackathon!!!

That’s right… DOUBLED.

With that in mind, there’s a little reshuffle on the prize fund!

The prize fund will now be split as follows:

1st Place: 7.5 Billion $COQ (x1.5)

2nd Place: 3.75 Billion $COQ (x1.5)

3rd Place: 2.25 Billion $COQ (x1.5)

This leaves a much larger pool (6.5 Billion $COQ) for discretionary prizes — so please do not be shy with your submissions.

I like to point out that ‘I created this social media account’ alone is unlikely to turn the judges heads, whereas a ‘I created this social media account, this is how I am running it, my plans to improve and spread the word and culture of the ecosystem’, and then show the positive improvements over the course of the hackathon is more likely to! — This goes for all forms of submission — please be detailed in what you provide! :)
