Whether you have a blog on Medium or on Self-hosted site then this article will be very much useful to you.

Starting a blog is easy on Medium. All you have to do is to create an account on Medium and put on your logo and a small bio. Medium also has a membership option but that’s optional. If you can then I highly recommend becoming a Medium member.

But do you know where the real problem is?

Getting traffic. Many complain of not getting traffic enough to across $100 mark on their blogs. If this is so then try out these tricks I personally use for my blogs.

Why I Prefer Medium Over Other Blogging Platforms

7 Ways to Increase Your Blog Traffic

  1. Blog title matters a lot — Sometimes we have a perfect blog post that many people will love to read. But the real problem is no one is actually clicking on it. I know you must have been there too. I too have some old articles that were really better than others but the real problem is the title doesn’t intrigue anyone.
  2. Pay attention to the type of content — I have only two for now. That’s a listicle and infographic. Both are the best way to make people read your blogs. I pay more attention to the listicle now.
  3. Email list matters a lot — You can also collect emails from your readers and inform them when you publish an article. It’s great that Medium has also this feature for you.
  4. Share on other social media platforms — I love Pinterest because sharing blog posts or YouTube videos is very easy and my contents reach thousands of audiences within a few minutes! Twitter, ManyStories, and Facebook are well-known alternatives.
  5. Repurpose — This is the shortest one because you only need to re-purpose your content for other platforms. like you can make a video and upload it on YouTube and link your Medium article/ blog article in the description blog.
  6. Link blog article — That’s internal in linking and is used by most of the writers on this platform. You can also link related articles at the end of your blog post.
  7. Visual content makes better engagement — I often see that whenever I use infographics or any kind of visual content, readers engage with the article more. Readers want short and easy reads and images, graphs serve this purpose very well.

So I’ll end this here! Hope you will like my strategies to increase traffic to your blog post. The list was long and have omitted a few things like sharing articles on the ManyStories-like sites. I will save this for future articles.

See you soon.
