Quite often your social media posts are specifically relevant to the time that you post them, for example, posts on breaking new stories.

However, you may also have various marketing messages or posts that you want sprinkled into your feeds periodically. What would be even better is if you could define a set of posts that you want delivered on your social media profiles periodically and have them sent automatically without you having to manually schedule them.

At Heroic Social, a social media management app, you can do just that with the Post Buckets feature.

You define which days to post, the times, how many posts per day, which profiles to post on, and (of course) the posts themselves. We’ll handle the rest as far as scheduling, publishing, and recycling the posts.

Here’s how it works… Once you create and configure a post bucket, we’ll schedule and publish the posts in that bucket according to your settings automatically. After all of the posts in the bucket have been published, we will start back from the beginning and keep going.

To try it out, head on over to heroicsocial.com and go to our Publisher Tool.

Go to the Heroic Social Publisher Tools

From there, click on the Post Buckets option from the menu on the left:

Post Buckets are just one feature of many at Heroic

Then it’s time to create what we call a Post Bucket which is, as the name describes, a bucket of posts that you can use and recycle. Click the big blue button to create your first bucket.

Users on our Publisher Pro can create multiple post buckets

Configure your post bucket. Here you enter which social profiles you want this bucket to post to, how many posts per day, on which days, and during which hours of the day.

Post buckets can be configured to post on specific days and at specific times

You can also name your bucket, which will be useful when creating new posts. Just click the little pencil icon next to “Unnamed Bucket”, enter a new name, and click Save.

Name your post buckets

For this post bucket example, I want it to post 3 times per day between 10:30am and 3:30pm, every day, to our Twitter account and Facebook Page.

Finally, once you have your post bucket setup as you see fit, it’s time to actually add some posts to it. There are a couple of ways to do this — let’s start with creating a post in Heroic Social. Either click the “Create a Post” link near the bottom of the bucket, or click the “Create a Post” button in the ribbon near the top of the page.

Add your first post to your fancy new post bucket

A dialog pops up of our familiar post composition tool. Here you can enter the text you want, add images, perform hashtag analysis, and lookup images and animated gif’s from free libraries.

When you’re happy with your post, click the dropdown arrow on the “Add to Queue” button, go down to the “Add to Post Bucket” option, and click the name of your post bucket (“Unnamed Bucket” if you didn’t change it).

Composing a new post and adding it to a post bucket

After you’ve added posts to your bucket, you can see them anytime by clicking the button labeled “Fetch them” underneath your bucket (note: you may need to refresh your page after adding your first post).

View the posts in your post bucket

You’ll then see them listed for you to view and/or delete.

Delete posts from your bucket if desired

If you already have a list of posts that you want added to a bucket, you can import them by clicking the “Import Posts” button where you can then upload your file.

Please note that your file must contain ONE post per line with no blank lines in between the posts.

At this point, your post bucket is configured, has posts, and is enabled. We’ll start automatically publishing posts from your bucket to your profiles according to the settings you provided so you can focus on other aspects of managing your social media profiles.

Once all of the posts in your bucket have been published, we’ll start back over from the beginning automatically to ensure you are consistently getting your message across on all of your social media channels. If at any time you want to change the order of the posts being published, you can click the “Scramble Posts” button, which will randomize the order of the posts in the bucket.

Post Buckets are just one of many publishing features available at Heroic Social, a powerful social media management application. Check it out to view our other great Publisher features and our Twitter Growth features as well!
