Today’s reading: pp. 493, 494.

The consistent life… unruffled under provocation, is always the most conclusive argument and the most solemn appeal.

This is a powerful reading today. The principles are especially for “workers for Christ”, if applied they can change our outlook, and more importantly, our results.

Key words

  • Principles
  • “Read hearts”
  • Character
  • Consistent, continuity, steadfastness

Questions

  • What does “following Christ” rather than our fellow workers save us from?
  • Does the parable of the wheat and tares turn your attitude around?
  • With what patience should we bear with our fellow workers?
  • If we “be what Jesus was” to our fellow workers, can we expect to see the same powerful grace?
  • What are we to regard ourselves as first of all? Is the way you deal with people one that saves?
  • We cannot read hearts (thankfully… could we cope with what we would find there!) but what can we do?
  • Think carefully about the most conclusive argument and the most solemn appeal. Are you using them?
  • “The continuity of Christian influence is the secret of its power”. Are you consistent, steadfast? Do you follow-up and follow through? What does this power depend on?
