This is a post in a series concerning a challenge called 2 Months 2 Master: learn a difficult skill between 1 March — 30 April 2018, spending a maximum of 15 minutes a day on practice. Report every day on your learning process. We were inspired by Max Deutsch and his M2M. I teach first year students at LUCA School of Arts in Ghent, Belgium. All students have their own challenge. Mine is: do a one arm pull-up.

Last day of this challenge! You can see in the video below that I did not manage to do a one arm pull-up. So what did I manage to achieve over the last two months?

  • I ate very little sugar: 2 pieces of black chocolate a day. 3 pieces of cake over the 2 months.
  • I ate no carbohydrates from rice or wheat. No potatoes. No pasta. Just fruits and vegetables and yoghurt.
  • I lost 3 kg of weight.
  • I worked out every day except for the 2 x 2 resting days.
  • I can do 9 pull-ups in a row now.
  • I can stand on my hands for 2'40" with support from the wall.
  • I learned a lot about learning and teaching.
  • I got inspired by students in a way that I never experienced before. I really felt like we were in a learning community together, and I loved it!
  • For the first time that a digital platform (Medium.com in this case) really felt like a place where I could meet and connect with other people. Facebook never really gave me that feeling.
  • Last but not least: I have experienced a piece of what I think is the future of learning. I feel very grateful for that.

Tomorrow start a new fase: M2E — Month 2 Experience. Hope to meet you there. For now: thank you for following me here, over and out.
