WWDC 2022 Key Updates watchOS 9
Apple’s wearables had a quiet year in 2021, with neither the Apple Watch 7 nor watchOS 8 offering significant improvements over their predecessors. As a result, Apple’s watchOS 9 has a lot of new features this year.
Better sleep tracking
Apple has improved sleep tracking with the introduction of sleep stages. The Apple Watch can now provide a breakdown of REM, Core, and Deep sleep in the app.
In the redesigned Health app for iPhone, you can examine indicators like heart rate and respiratory rate, as well as how they fluctuate throughout the night
Improved workouts
More information and metrics are now displayed in the Workout app. Custom workouts allow you to design an organized workout with customized work and rest intervals. New notifications can be added, such as pace, power, heart rate, and cadence.
The Workout app now has a new Multi-sport workout type that uses motion sensors to analyze movement patterns and automatically transitions between any sequence of swimming, biking, and running sessions.
Medications App
The Medications app1 helps you discreetly and conveniently keep track of your medications, vitamins, and supplements right from your wrist. And lets you log them from reminders.
New Watch faces
There are four new watch faces in watchOS 9, i.e., Lunar, Playtime, Metropolitan, and Astronomy, which includes some updates on the existing faces too. For example, the Portrait’s face now displays the depth effect on images of cats, dogs, and landscapes, and classic watch faces, such as Modular, Modular Compact, and X-Large, now have changeable backdrop colors and gradients.
