I live in Barcelona. I love Barcelona. In summer there are a lot of events of all kinds: music festivals, tech conferences, street food markets, cultural experiences, and so on. And I like to go to all of them. But there’s one that I want to go to because involves all of them in one place.

I found out about this event on Twitter (by chance) called ETHBarcelona. And I’m so interested in it, that I made my own research about it, and I’m going to share with you all the information that I found in case you are interested too.

Here’s what I found out!

ETHBarcelona is a community gathering connecting bright minds, thinkers, builders, creators, and leaders. This ETH event contains the very important side of knowledge sharing: talks, panels, and workshops from leaders in the space, plus an important focus on culture and impact.

Art can shape culture, and this community wanted to bring that to the table. At this point in history, it’s hard to think without taking into consideration the impact they create through the projects they’re part of.

You are who you surround yourself with, so it’s the moment in time where all the people reimagining a sustainable, free future, can meet and create alchemy in one place (both physically and virtually).

ETHBarcelona believes in collective growth. The event has been designed under the concept of a Solarpunk Experience, and that’s precisely what attendees can expect.

A Space of Synergy

One of the primary goals is to create a space of synergy. These community gatherings bring together some of the brightest minds, working on collective solutions through these groundbreaking technologies that allow humanity to be resilient.

This event aims to be a point of convergence between art, innovation in the space, and social impact. What can be expected is a hot & sunny Barcelona, a diversity of speakers and leaders in the ecosystem from around the world such as Anna Kryukova from Celo Foundation, Alona Shevchenko from Ukraine DAO, James Beck from Consensys (Metamask), Griff Green from Giveth, Maliha Abidi from Women Rise NFT, Steph Orpilla from Polygon, Tracey Bowen from H.E.R. DAO, and so much more.

You can check the full list, here.

But that’s not all. There will be a lot of exhibitions by incredible creator collectives (local and international), live music performances, dedicated spaces to rest and mindfulness, and curious, talented students ready to jump on the journey.

Another goal of ETHBarcelona is to share the learnings and processes of how the experience was created, make it a community creation, and involve all the attendees in next year’s building.

ETHBarcelona is an experience for web3 builders, leaders, thinkers, artists and creators in general that celebrate the values of decentralization, public goods and social impact. From July 6–8th, 2022.

Partnerships

ETHBarcelona has grown into a truly collective effort and we are grateful to be shaping this through our partnerships. Very pleased to be working with Colin Reynolds from Learning Economy Foundation on the curation of the Education track, TheDaoist on the curation of the DAO track, and Existential Hope by Foresight Institute presenting Desci NFTs, among many others.

On a local level, incredible institutions like Casa Batlló are jumping in to support. There is a lot of gratitude for all the supporters that are now building ETHBarcelona with us.

NFTickets for ETHBarcelona

NFTickets are the gateway for people to come to the event and prove they were a part of it. People can find the link to them on the website ETHBarcelona, plus some useful guides on the process. Some benefits of the ticket ID will be revealed during the event.

You can also purchase the tickets via Eventbrite, so it’s accessible for everyone.

NFTs are minted on Polygon, a Layer 2 solution. On top of that, each NFT donates a 5% of the price to a social cause that will be collectively selected among all the attendees of ETHBarcelona.

Airdrops and discounts

There’s something very special going on in terms of discounts. When someone decides to purchase a ticket to ETHBarcelona, they allow someone else to attend the conference free of charge. We want to be mindful and accessible, so students can apply to get a free ticket via this form. We are also granting tickets to communities that represent diversity in the space.

Speaking with the Organising Team for ETHBarcelona

Hello, Guys! Juan Cienfuegos here.

I had the opportunity to interview one of the organizers of ETHBarcelona so that our Keeping Up With The Cryptos community and the Coinmonks Publication could get exclusive information about the event, so… here you have it, enjoy!

Juan: Hi, Micaela! Thanks for the interview. I’m really glad to meet you. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Micaela: My name is Micaela, I’m 28. I’m from Ecuador and have been living in Barcelona since 2018. I call myself an alchemist of connections, but that’s another story to tell.

Juan: What’s your background? How do you get here?

Micaela: My journey has taken me to many places, but I’ve always been bonded with arts and culture. I studied a masters degree in Barcelona, the reason that landed me in this city. From the beginning, I immersed myself in the cultural scene and one of its essences, music festivals. I worked for Sónar Festival, Primavera Sound, Loom Collective, and Oxymore Magazine, both major and independent projects pushing for a diverse and multicultural ecosystem.

Later, I lived in a permaculture community in 2020 for some months and learned about the wonders of restoring the land. It was in early 2021 when I got a call from a friend and jumped into web3. “I’m in a new project and you should be a part of it,” she told me, so I got immediately curious. Since then, I’ve been diving in and unlearning a lot.

Juan: What do you think about the projects/companies that are going to be there?

Micaela: I’m particularly excited about the Impact oriented projects, focused on reducing the gap in diversity, restoring our planet, and onboarding and providing accessibility to others. As a lover of art, it excites me to see the exhibitions that will be displayed in the space. I’m also looking forward to all the regenerative minds conversations. We’re making a big effort to bring together projects that are seeding sustainable solutions and nurturing the community.
