Tuesday
My dear wifey:
Mobile at last after all the talk about here. The town looks quite interesting. We spent the afternoon walking along the waterfront & looking at the ships.
Scriver and I have a with a common bathroom in between. The rooms are not so hot but the manager promised to give us better rooms tomorrow. We are each being so asked $3.00 per night which is a lot more than I want to pay. We are going to try & join him down tomorrow.
As I told you in my card I met John Hamilton & saw the air base. He has a small say out & has easy hours. He and a bunch of engineers are coming to Mobile a week from Saturday so I expect to have a good time then.
On Tuesday & Wednesday we all knocked off from work at 1pm and spent the afternoon swimming in the pool of the DeSoto Hotel. I didn’t get much of a tan because the sun was not in full bloom.
No word from the PRR yet. I don’t know what to make of it. Will write again in a day or so
Love, Fritz
