Sunday

My dear Wifey:

At last I received word about my job. Yesterday I received a telegram from Mr. Hamilton saying that Mr. Rill wants me to report for duty Monday, May 1, 1939. Mr. Hamilton wants me to leave here so as to be in the office Saturday morning so as to arrive in Philadelphia Sunday. From the telegram I take it that he expects me to stay in Washington Saturday night. Since I’m going to be with you all the time after this weekend you won’t mind if I stay in Washington Saturday night. I’ll try to let you know from Washington just when I’ll be home.

Yesterday Sriv & I went out with the Vice President’s brother. He is a boat builder & belongs to all the yacht clubs. Hence — we visited all the clubs and sipped beer. Then we all went sailing in Mobile Bay. I had a swell time & was glad to get a chance to get out in the sun.

Today the Vice-Presidents secretary is taking us out to dinner & then to tennis matches. There is a young fellow down here — 18 yrs old — who has won 120 tournaments & is suppose to be the greatest young tennis player in the country. I’m very anxious to see him perform.

I expect to leave here Thursday night. Will be glad to see you again.

All my love,

Fritz
