TRIMMING THE VERGE

Hedge maintenance is another task that is generally carried out between spring and summer, along with mowing the lawn. Even if it is a small shrub or a full bush, it still needs trimming. If you choose to use an electric hedge trimmer to accomplish the task quickly and efficiently, just keep in mind that you have a few things to watch out for. Step Ladders are also the best choice for trimming in a garden.

Hedge trimmers should be used in accordance with the following guidelines:

  • Protect your eyes with safety goggles and wear sturdy gloves
  • Ensure that there is enough room for your ladder, should you need one, by removing any obstructions on the ground before beginning
  • Never use a trimmer above the height of your head
  • Keep the hedge trimmer well out in front of your body by holding it with both hands
  • A residual current device (RCD) should be used
  • Make sure the cable is placed over your shoulder to prevent it from being cut
  • Avoid forcing the hedge trimmer over a tough patch of growth because it could rebound and damage your body

CHAINSAW OPERATION

In all honesty, working with a chainsaw can be dangerous, so we don’t have to explain it. Despite the fact that everyone knows that they’re dangerous, those who don’t use them regularly might not be able to fully identify each individual risk they can pose — so no matter how much experience you have with them, it’s always a good idea to refresh your knowledge before picking one up again. It’s always a good idea to use Platform Step Ladders while working with chainsaws.

Here are some things you need to watch out for:

The green thumb grip- Your thumbs and fingers must be completely wrapped around both handles. It is also very important that you keep your left thumb under the front handle since this will reduce the force of any possible kickback.

Step Ladders

Close Contact- Keeping the saw closer to your body will improve your balance, and standing with your left foot slightly in front of your right will increase your balance

Keep your knees bent- Working in low positions shouldn’t be done with a curved spine, but instead by bending your knees.

Moving the saw- Turn off the engine when you move to another spot or activate the chain brake if you want the chain not to rotate when you are moving

Distancing yourself safely- If you are working with a chainsaw, make sure no one is closer to you than 3–5 meters away.

These tips will help you have some valuable peace of mind as you go about your summer jobs. However, if you’re still unsure of whether the job can be done safely, we always recommend asking a professional.
