Compliant Cannabis Product Packaging & Labels Part IV: Manufactured Cannabis Products

The California Department of Health’s checklist for labeling manufactured cannabis products includes different labeling requirements than the ones for flower and flower-only pre-rolls. Manufactured cannabis products are defined as inhaled cannabis products (vape cartridges, shatter, wax, etc.), and non-inhaled cannabis products (edibles, topicals, tinctures, etc.).

Label Examples

The labels on Dr. Norm’s cannabis edibles meet the CDPH’s requirements; the following graphics show that the primary panel and informational panel on bags of Dr. Norm’s cannabis cookies are fully compliant.

Primary Panel

Informational Panel

Here’s a breakdown of the informational panel, often found on the back portion of a product’s packaging.

Other Labeling

Label information that doesn’t have a designated primary or informational panel location is printed on packaging in a case-by-case basis.

This post is part of a series on compliant packaging and labeling.
