I won’t lie, I thought I had hit the big time when I fell into this place called Medium. A platform that paid you if folk read what you wrote. A novel concept? Maybe not for you, but for me it was. I had mainly written blogs. Typing stories into a void — for my own gratification. I realise other ways of finding self-satisfaction are available.

Speyside, Scotland — Writers, editors and publishers across the world are on the lookout as an ellipsis point was reported missing from a well known Scottish blogger’s logo this week.

Dot was first noticed absent after a state side editor drew attention to the overuse of ellipses in professional writing. This sparked ferocious response as writers sought to justify their own ellipses. Readers started to become more aware of this three dot interlude, and that is how it was discovered only two dots now reside at She Wordsmith’s abode.

A spokesman for the international search said this today.

“We are now treating Dot as missing, and asking everyone from the writing community to be on the lookout. So far over three thousand manuscripts have been checked. We have also questioned over 400 Dots, almost all of which were found to actually be periods. They have now been returned to their rightful place. It is an almost impossible task. Dot has no distinct characteristics, and is in fact very similar in appearance to absolutely every other by the same name. We cannot thank the public enough as the search continues. It is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.” …
