48 Notable Mobile Games Released in March 2020

In spite of COVID-19 outbreak release calendar in March was very packed, especially in the last week of the month. 48 releases, 7 soft launches, and 8 announced games. The list is also featured at PocketGamer.biz.

Major Developers and Publishers

1.Teamfight Tactics by Riot Games (Android). Autochess, or “auto battler” in Riot’s terminology, set in the world of League of Legends launched on Google Play.

2.War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius by Gumi/Square Enix. Tactical RPG in Final Fantasy series. It was released in Japan in November 2019.

3.Bowling Crew by Wargaming. Bowling simulator with 1v1 real-time multiplayer.

4.Words & Ladders by Etermax. Word riddle game from creators of Trivia Crack.

5.KoongYa Draw Party by Netmarble. Quiz game, where you solve pun-inspired drawn riddles, and draw together with friends in another mode similar to Draw Something.

6.Missile Command: Recharged by Nickervision Studios/Atari. Remake of arcade hit from 1980.

7.Battle Bouncers — RPG Breakers by Game Hive. RPG puzzler with innovative block breaker mechanics from creators of Tap Titans.

8.Minitak: Fire by Hoolai Games. 5v5 turn-based shooting battles with cartoonish art direction a-la Worms from Chinese developers.

9.Respanwnables Heroes by Digital Legends (iOS). 4v4 multiplayer hero brawler in Overwatch style with a similar art direction. The 2nd game in Respanwnables franchise.

10.Devil Hunter: Eternal War by Century Game. Fantasy RPG with autoplay from Chinese publisher responsible for Guns of Glory & King of Avalon.

11.RaceCraft by Budge Studios. Create tracks for toy cars and ride on them. Given the portfolio of the developer full of licensed games that might have been a game with Hot Wheels IP, but the deal didn’t come together.

12.Evil Hunter Tycoon by SuperPlanet. Build a town and send heroes to loot dungeons. Fantasy tycoon with pixel graphics from Korean publisher.

Prominent Updates

Archero by Gorilla Game Studio/Habby. “Hybridcasual” hit adds multiplayer co-op mode.

Licensed Games

13.Game of Thrones: Beyond The Wall by Behaviour Interactive. Hero collecting RPG with tactical combat in the world of HBO’s ecranisation of A Song of Ice and Fire novels. Unfortunately w/o “look alike” licenses, so you won’t see faces of the favorite actors in the game.

14.Disney Sorcerer’s Arena by Glu Mobile. Hero collecting RPG with Disney and Pixar characters and high quality graphics. Visual appeal seems the main difference from a very similar battler Disney Heroes: Battle Mode developed by PerBlue.

15.Scrabble GO by Scopely. The famous word game officially arrives on mobile. According to Wikipedia Scrabble trademark is owned by Hasbro in the US and Canada, and by Mattel in the rest of the world.

16.Snoopy Puzzle Journey by Capcom. Blasting puzzle with an iconic American comic character in the main role.

17.MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2020 by Glu Mobile. The sports simulator with licensed players and stadiums.

18.Naruto X Boruto Ninja Tribes by Bandai Namco. Character collecting RPG with the license of a famous anime series.

19.The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross by Netmarble. Asian developers are on the way to turn every Japanese anime license out there into an RPG.

20.Bleach: Immortal Soul by Oasis Games. And one more RPG with anime characters.

21.Burrito Blast by Mariale by BroadbandTV. Blasting puzzle with the French Bulldog of the Spanish-speaking youtuber Mariale, who has 13M subscribers, from the digital media company BraodbandTV, which represents online influencers. BTW the dog named Burrito has 500K followers on Instagram.

22.Sagrada by Dire Wolf Digital/Floodgate Games. Mobile adaptation of the board game puzzle with dice.

23.EVA Battlefields by Mobcast (Japan only). Famous anime series Evangelion enters mobile games space with an RPG battler. Players can purchase an optional mouse-like controller in the shape of a robot and place on it one of 12 figurines (sold in blind gacha packages). The figurines provide benefits in combat.

Noteworthy Indies

24.War Tortoise 2 by Foursaken Media. Explore the land on a giant war tortoise, shoot the enemies and progress endlessly in idle style. A sequel to the indie hit of 2016 developed by the same team of 4 brothers from North Carolina, USA.

25.The Seven Chambers by Plug In Digital. HOG with a plot based on esoteric topics: past lives, astrology, alchemy and other mysteries. 1-time IAP for the full game unlock.

26.Towerlands — tower defense by Black Bears. Build a multilevel siege tower and repel waves of enemies.

27.You’re Fired! Job Simulator! by Marco Krapf. Tap on goods at a supermarket cashier belt to scan them and cope with distractions. And you are fired after the first mistake.

28.CookieRoute by Digita Games. Puzzler which mixes gameplay of connect the pipes and Tetris.

29.Cyber Drive by TapMen. Drive a flying taxi through air traffic in 5th Element inspired setting. Hyeprcasual game from an indie studio consisting of 2 brothers, who develop their games on BuildBox.

Top Downloaded Hypercasuals

30.Combat of Hero by Ohayoo/PeakX Games/ByteDance. One of the first games published from a studio owned by TikTok parent company. Hit enemies coming from the left and right sides, and gain Archero-style skills between waves.

31.Perfect Cream by Playgendary. Add cream topping on cakes.

32.Blend it 3D by SayGames. Blend cocktails and with a chance to chop fingers.

33.Ultimate Disc by Supersonic Studios. Throw frisbee.

34.Join Clash by Supersonic Studios. Crowd City with obstacles — gather a crowd of manikins and get together through the obstacle course.

35.Knock’em All by Voodoo. Hypercasual FPS. What?!

36.Spiral Roll by Voodoo. “Dig wood to form spirals and use them to destroy obstacles”.

37.Chores! — Spring into Cleaning by Lion Studios. Cleaning, mowing lawns, ironing and other household chores acompliches magically just by swiping on the screen.

38.Save the Girl! by Lion Studios. Narrative comic style adventure with choices, where you escape numerous dangers.

39.Wheel Smash by Rollic Games. Crush stuff with a wheel of a car, inspired by YouTube minigenre.

40.Pizzaiolo! by Geisha Tokyo. Cook pizzas: “knead the dough, place the toppings & bake”.

41.Home Restoration by Panteon. Renovate old houses.

42.Castelvania: Symphony of the Night by Konami, $2.99. Mobile port of iconic action-adventure platformer from 1997.

43.Harvest Moon: Mad Dash by Natsume, $4.99. Matching puzzle game in iconic franchise of farming games. Previously released on consoles in October 2019.

44.Hidden Through Time by Crazy Monkey Studios, $1.99. Find items and tiny details on huge hand-drawn levels.

45.Repulsive by Punk Labs, $4.99. Skate on a hoverboard (like in Back to Future) around an open world and complete challenges.

46.Interrogation: Deceived by Mixtvision, $3.99. Dialogue based detective game, where you interrogate suspects. Previously released on Steam in December 2019.

Apple Arcade Releases

47.Spyder by Sumo Digital. Play as a tiny spider robot at the service of a spy agency and sabotage the plans of evil doers.

48.Roundguard by Wonderbelly Games. Dungeon crawler RPG with pinball mechanics. Released simultaneously on Steam.

Noticed in Soft Launch

1.Legends of Runeterra by Riot Games. CCG in League of Legends world expands beta beyond PC. Launched on iOS and Android in Singapore.

2.Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad by Owlient/Ubisoft. 5v5 squad RPG battler with characters from Ubisoft shooter games: The Division, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six and Splinter Cell.

3.Marvel Duel by NetEase/Marvel Games. Strategy card game with superheroes and supervillains started closed beta in Thailand and Philippines.

4.Hay Day Pop by Supercell. Match3 spin-off of the farming game. Available in Australia, Finland, and New Zealand.

5.Angry Birds Casual by Rovio. Back to the roots of the simple slinging arcade. Seems that games with casual gameplay, but with extensive meta and progression, are not really “casual” for many years already. Soft-launched on iOS in Finland, Poland, Sweden and the US.

6.Angry Birds Legends & Chronicles of Legends by Rovio. The same RPG battler in two variations — with and without Angry Birds IP. Android version soft launched in Finland, Sweden and UK.

7.Soccer Rally: Arena by Lavaskull. Rocket League’s gameplay — cars playing football with a giant ball — is on mobile now. Soft launched in the US.

Announced Games

1.Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells by Zynga/Portkey Games/Warner Bros. Match3 puzzle in Harry Potter universe.

2.Marvel Future Revolution by Netmarble. Open world RPG with Marvel heroes and villains, including Spiderman, Captain America, Doctor Strange and others.

3.Fallout Shelter Online by Shengqu Games/Gaea Mobile/Bethesda. Multiplayer version of the base building strategy game, previously available only in China, will be launched worldwide, probably in April.

4.Roller Champions by Ubisoft. Competitive fantasy sport, announced previously for PC, is coming to mobile and consoles.

5.Hard Rock Blackjack by KamaGames. Social casino game under the famous entertainment brand.

6.Battleverse Champions by Tenacious Entertainment. 1v1 arena brawler. Debut title from the team formed by former ArenaNet (Guild Wars) developers, who secured $3.3M in funding.

7.FIFA Mobile by Nexon/Electronic Arts. A new football title exclusively for Korea.

8.NieR Re[in]carnation by Applibot/Square Enix. Game in NieR universe for Japanese market.
