Setting up Stremio on FireTV
To setup Stremio to be used through your FireTV streaming devices use the following steps to configure the device. Once the device is setup you can stream your content through Stremio without any hitches.
Setup Stremio on FireTV
To setup Stremio on FireTV requires the program to be SideLoaded onto the app. The following step will help you install the program and it won’t break your FireTV, but it’s a bit technical but don’t be scared it’s not bad.
We’ll use a free Downloader App that is available on the Amazon Store to install Stremio.
- You can look it up using the Find > Search option on the home screen.
2. Search for the Downloader app and install it.
3. Go to the home screen of your FireStick and select the Settings option from the menu.
4. Now click My Fire TV. (Might say Device & Software, depending on the version of Fire TV you’re running.)
5. You should now see the following set of options. Click Developer options.
Note: If you do not see Developer Options, go to Settings > My Fire TV > About.
Now, select Fire TV Stick and click it 7 times to enable Developer Options. If you’re still not sure how to do it, here’s a step-by-step guide to enable developer options.
6. Click Install unknown apps.
Note: If you see Apps from Unknown Sources, turn that setting ON and skip step 7 below.
7. Turn ON the Downloader app.
Stremio on FireStick Installation Steps
Following are the steps to install the Stremio app on FireStick.
- Open the Downloader app in your Apps.
2. Click the URL field. Enter in the URL https://strem.io and click Go.
4. When the page loads up, click Got it at the bottom.
5. You’ll be presented with a webpage and you can use the arrows on the controller to move around the ‘mouse’. Now, click the hamburger icon in the upper left corner of the webpage.
6. Scroll down and click DOWNLOADS from the dropdown menu.
7. On the following webpage, scroll down to the Android section labeled Stremio for Android Mobile and click the Stremio 1.6.1 ARM APK. It’s not listed in this picture but it’s the most recent version.
8. Wait for the Stremio APK to download. This usually takes less than a minute but depends on your network speed.
9. The installation window will appear when the APK has been downloaded. Click Install.
10. Installation will probably also take a minute or less.
11. When the app is installed, don’t click OPEN yet. Instead, click DONE for now and return to the Downloader app.
12. Go ahead and click Delete. We are deleting the APK file because it is no longer needed, so deleting it saves space in your limited FireStick storage.
13. Click Delete again.
Now you can exit back to FireTV Main Menu and you’ll find the Stremio App (probably buried at the end of the Apps Menu). Launch it.
You’ll be presented with a QR code that you can scan with your phone and it will link to the Stremio website, and you just log in with your Stremio username and password, and it will link that device to your system.
