I came to first hear about it, when I was in Israel in 1984. I never heard about it again, but the concept was always in my mind.
That’s why before almost 10 years, I published two articles, suggesting that Egypt constructs a similar project (close to the Egyptian-Israeli border) to both, get rid of the Islamic terrorists (who are produced by Israel and smuggled into the Sinai to destabilize Cairo) and generate new, great income.

Of course, the stupid Egyptian government did not do anything; that’s why many believe that the end of the present regime is near.

Personally, I would not find it surprising that Israel develops plans about constructing the Canal, after the North of Gaza is entirely emptied and bulldozed.
It is however interesting that several sites like Eurasia Review publish this sort of articles these days, highlighting the … urgency (!! ??) of the project for Israel:

Hamas is the plaything that Netanyahu created in order to use it in due course of time. Thinking that they take revenge on Israel on 7th October 2023, they acted exactly as Netanyahu had programmed them, causing extreme disaster to the entire Palestinian nation.
So many military ships and aircraft carriers in the region have not been gathered for nothing; if you don’t understand this fact, you are a fool.
If you think that Hamas is the ‘problem’ for Israel, then ask yourself this question:
- Why do the Israelis not arrange a hit and run attack to kill the top Hamas leaders in Doha and thus decapitate the whole organization?
They know all the details of their whereabouts; they can do it, but they don’t.
The answer is simple: Hamas is not a problem but a tool, and that’s why they need it.
One of the shrewdest comments I heard over the past month is that 10/7 is … Israel’s 9/11. Very correct! Netanyahu knew everything about it; he wanted it to be done.
