Lego Build 47 — Hoplite

Unassuming and simplistic, the Hoplite was built to support infantry formations. The end of the Star League and the new age of warfare that followed almost announced the end of the design. But it would gain a new lease in life later on.

Produced on the worlds colonized by the exiled SLDF, the model would see action during the early conflicts in the region. Surviving units would be retained in service for decades, being inexpensive and easy to maintain.

When the Dragoon Initiative was conceived as a way to gather information about the Inner Sphere, the remaining Hoplites would be gathered to equip this veritable mercenary force. It was expected that the ancient design would be an assuming sight. However, like the Annihilator, it only made the Wolf’s Dragoons even more conspicuous. Later on, the design would spread to other mercenary units, being essentially now associated with them.

The model I bring you today was another one made from scrap parts I had laying around when making these sets in real life. It is shown in the color scheme I used for the mercenary faction. It only takes 32 parts and it is quite simple in every regard. This one most people should be able to reproduce without much issue.

Let me know your thoughts.
