Lego Build 58 — Dasher (Firemoth)
It seems that I’ve been managing a balance between Spheroid and Clanner machines as of late. This week, thus, I bring you one of the infamous models that debuted in the Sphere during the Clan Invasion — the speedy Dasher.
Known as the Firemoth among the Clanners, this machine was originally developed as an infantry support ‘Mech. It was characterized by the upward-bent arms, originally meant to carry underslung transport pods. This idea was canceled as the developers felt it was too unwieldy. On the other hand, the arms positioning allowed the Firemoth to deploy its relatively heavy weaponry, consisting of missile launchers and lasers, from behind cover.
Another important point is the blinding-fast speed of the Firemoth, going well over 160kph. This makes it one of the fastest ‘Mechs of its time. However, at just 20 tons, it had to make concessions to achieve all of its achievements. The major one was the armor. At mere two tons, it is paper-thin throughout, meaning that speed and agility are the Firemoth’s defenses.
During the invasion, it became the staple light ‘Mech of Clan Ghost Bear and earned the name Dasher due to its speed. Pilots were noticeably aggressive as they were usually older or failed MechWarriors attempting to stand out, knowing very well that piloting a Firemoth was their last hope to achieve glory.
The model is a variant of the one that I did in real life, streamlined and improved. It uses 34 parts. It is also yet another Jade Falcon-themed build because I simply loved this color scheme.
Let me know your thoughts.
