Lego Build 90 — Carbine ConstructionMech
This seemed like a good entry to bring you something new to this channel -an IndustrialMech. While these machines correspond to most of the ‘Mechs ever built in the BattleTech setting, as they existed before BattleMechs even, they seldom are shown, in contrast to their more glamorous counterparts.
Developed during the Star League Era, the Carbine was built on Terra for most of its production run. This guaranteed that production wouldn’t be hampered by the Succession Wars. Simple and rugged, and using an internal combustion engine instead of the complex fusion devices powering war machines, it spread across the Inner Sphere, becoming the de-facto ConstructionMech (even though there were other machines built for that purpose).
The Blakist Jihad would finally stop production. Many units captured by this faction would be mass-converted into MilitiaMechs, the first time such thing happened at that scale. Moreover, in the so-called Chaos March, factories would re-start production, thus saving the Carbine from extinction. Came the Dark Age, these machines would again find themselves being armed and used as impromptu implements of war.
This model wasn’t easy to put together and I’d say it is a bit difficult to build. It is telling that it takes 59 parts, the double of most of my builds within this size range.
This machine has a weird shape, but that was part of reason why I wanted to make it. I’m quite happy with how the legs turned out. It is a simple and yet versatile design that should be useful for many mech builders out there. The arms, on the other hand, took me forever to get right. I’ll even go as far as to admit that the instructions for them may not be too clear. If you have any trouble with them do not hesitate in sending me a message.
If you like my work you can give me a tip at my Ko-fi account. It helps me getting these done and also to invest in future projects of games and gaming aids. I have a goal for when I get 100 donations that should be of interest to RPG enthusiasts out there. So check it out!
See you soon!
