Tiny Warship 04 — McKenna Battleship

Continuing with the concept from the last post, I bring you yet another downsized warship. This time it is one of the largest that I ever made (before the Leviathan and the Turanic Carrier were a thing). Under the new construction rules the amount of parts was greatly reduced, from more than 150 to just over 80. At this point it takes no more parts than many of my ‘Mech designs.

Furthermore, the new model is more sturdy and stable than the prior attempt, being something you can easily do by yourself. The swords that I used for the “sails” can be replaced by any similar objects and I think they’ll look good all the same. In general, it is a neat, easy to make and manipulate, small warship for all your entertainment purposes.

Comes in SLDF colors, evidently.

In lore this is a very powerful ship, fast and well armed. Quite large too, being the first real battleship of the Star League and the most dominant for centuries to come. These ships were flagships, hearts of reaction forces, and ships of the line laying waste into enemy fleets. They were so predominant, even, that they would become prized assets in the Clanner and ComStar fleets later on.

For fleet build purposes, I’d say this one deserves a powerful broadside with reach, plus short-range cannon firepower in the front, missiles in the back and some other upgrade to make it even more destructive. McKennas were notoriously under-armored for their size, but the amount of pain they can dish compensates for that.

One issue of working on such a small scale is that some details need to be dropped, like most of the wings in the back section of the ship. It does have a mean look to it, though.

This is being a very fun project, so count on more of this in the future. I have not forgotten the ‘Mechs and vehicles, either. They’re coming, only more slowly.

So keep and eye on this space.
