After partaking in an ad-hoc promotion of the successful Kickstarter campaign for the Battle of Neom expansion for Redline, I once more return to the Inner Sphere. And what a better way to do so than by completing Volume One of my Warship builds?

There are several reasons why I have chosen this one. For one, it was the build I had closer to getting finished. I usually attempt several approaches on how to build these vessels, until something clicks. When that happens completion is usually swift. With the Sovetskii Soyuz this happened a couple of weeks ago, which was satisfying.

The other reason was that I wanted to complete another fleet. This time, the ComStar fleet. I had already done the Suffren and the Lola III, which function as escorts in my renewed classification but needed a capital vessel to round it up, as I did with the Combine fleet for example. Everything came together after I learned ComStar had a couple of these lying around by the time of the Jihad.

These cruisers were state-of-the-art when the Amaris Coup started, having been just inducted into the armed forces of the Star League due to an expansion program. Most of the surviving vessels left with Kerensky and would become part of the future Clanner navies. The remaining were absorbed by the nascent ComStar, where they would remain for centuries. Even today they remain powerful weapons platforms in space combat, being a veritable armed fortress around which other ships can gather to form a flotilla.

Again, I really enjoyed making this one. Took me months to do so, but the end result is good enough for me. It uses 65 parts plus the base and I would classify it as medium difficulty.

Traditionalists among you will notice that I decided to not only use the Clanner redesign of the vessel but the Delranes version of it. This is because I greatly prefer that version to any of the others. It is really good — you should check the fan-made TRO, it’s really great.

Regarding Redline, it was a blast to return to that setting once more. I really enjoy the builds I got to do this time around. The Kickstarter was a success, and you can still check it out and late pledge too, I think.

Morerover, I have plans for future instalments of Warship Wednesdays — some involving Battletech, others no to much but stil very exciting. Stay tuned to see what I have in mind!
