This is the second post in “5 business ideas in 5 days” series.

(2) B2B connections automated

A small business is trying to find an overseas distributor.

They might spend a few months or years searching for distributors online, connecting to them, meeting some of them.

May be even flying overseas, hoping this will help them understand the local culture better and find the right partner.

Most of this effort does not produce a result they want.

Searching for an overseas distributor is a particularly challenging task.

You get a hundred links on B2B marketplaces — all of them look pretty much the same until you actually get to know them.

I found that Google search can provide better results. But it still might take a few days to even identify the partners.

Why isn’t this process automated yet?

Aren’t the companies looking for just a few partners that have the experience and connections they are looking for.

Wouldn’t it be easy to connect if you have only a few links that are already relevant to you. Instead of browsing through hundreds of partners that might have no relevant experience or connections.

I don’t think things like ratings or random recommendations would help here. The links have to be collected and sorted by people who have experience in this industry.

May be we don’t even need it as an app.

Rather a simple website that has the links companies are looking for available to them.

I know, this is just a rough idea at the moment. But, certainly, there is a market for that, and the B2B marketplaces do not seem to do this kind of job very well.
