India Travel Diary# 1- Enlightenment after Chaos
I went on my first trip to India on July 7th, 2008, 6 nights and 7 days. I decided to travel to India and Greece with my friends, and India was chosen.
In the past 10 years, I think of the reasons why I went on a trip to India.
The relationship with India begins with my first job.
I got my first job at the age of 24, which is a recruiting company to work for an Indian client since I spoke a little English.
It is a Videocon project, an Indian home appliance company, to recruit LCD manufacturing engineers from Samsung and LG in Korea.
I conducted interpretations, communication and meetings with hopefuls at the Seoul meeting of Videocon. I thought that he went to study English in the English proficiency of fluent English. But, he just studied simply in India. I didn’t know much about India at the time.
Usually, Koreans spends more time and money on English training. It was a crisp stun to communicate in English easily, even after college. This was my first connection with India.
Since then, I have had an excellent job with my Indian client (my second job).
Second quit his job after a shivering arms … leaving India hikers are as ceremonies get off at the New Delhi airport, we take the Prepaid taxi to Pahar Ganji (a taxi fare from the airport in advance I use it a lot to avoid fraud charges) It is a place where world’s backpackers, Merchants, Mutts, dairy animals, garbage and dirt are dangling from cheap inns, restaurants and travel organizations.
(The above picture is the most appropriate expression of Pahar Ganji. I remember when I was caught in the tail of a cow that shook its tail as it passed through a narrow alley during my trip.)
We headed to the cheap but dirty hostel who offers affordable Paharganji. I was shocked by the sanitary condition of the hostel.
The next day I went on a trip to India.
Pahar Ganji went to New Delhi Railway Station to book the next destination, Varanasi. When we arrived at the station plaza, Rickshaw, cyclist, driver Clarkson, the tourists, and the locals were all messing everywhere. On a hot summer day, I was so excited.
I’m looking for a ticket office for foreigners from the guidebook. I could not find any signs.
I look around and see … Locals approach
“Where is the ticket office for foreigners in your station?”
“Oh, madam today is Monday, but the ticket office for foreigners closed the door. “
Oh yeah?
Yeah. Excuse me. Where do you want to go?
I hope.
Oh, then go to India Tourism Agency, you can book tickets. Take a Rickshaw, You can go there.
Thank you.
Madam, Be careful. We have to go to the official tourism office in India. There are a lot of cheaters, so be careful. I’ll explain.
I am relieved to ride Rickshaw with relief. Apparently the Indian Tourism Authority is located near the New Delhi station, and I know it will take 5–10 minute walk, but I went to the wrong place.
I: I think we’ve been hit.
I’m not going to the Indian Tourism Agency.
I: They will definitely drop in front of an editorial travel agency, and then go there and force them to buy Tigget scams from Varanasi.
If the kids drop it, let’s run away. That’s really the story dropped off in front of a local travel agency we walk stet Oh, I escaped was forced to.
The driver and other locals are Madam. I followed where I was going. I was struck. You film a real action movie in India.
Fortunately, they ignore it and they do not follow anymore. I choose a sigh, where we are, what we do. Indeed, it was a mystery experience. No, I do not know what will happen if I am sad. I will not take off in a state of emergency.
Some Indian men rummage through the guidebook.
I thought about it. A respectful Manner Nam and Rickshaw driver all talked about in India.
Maybe if I passed, they would have split the commission.
Some Indian men going through the guidebook. You are a foreigner here. Tell him to be careful. I cannot believe you for some reason. After completing the fallow, we have the Indian Tourism Agency which I told him to go.
Fortunately, he was a reliable Indian, and on his guidance, I took Rickshaw back to the Indian Tourism Board.
We were able to reconfirm the fact that we would be fraudulent in the Tourism Agency.
If I just followed them, I would have bought the Varna enforcement train ticket at a price of about 100,000 won per seat.
There is no day off for foreign tourists in New Delhi station, so go buy it yourself.
After that incident, I became very excited and disturbed by local Indians who are approaching it because they were in a hurry.
Their main tricks they use are Rickshawwala (Rickshaw Driver) for 18 Rupees and suddenly ask for 80 Rupees.
I am playing with Eighteen Rupee and Eighty Rupee so you have to confirm in advance.
When I hired a driver, I promised to go suddenly. The ruins of the ruins and the exposition are closed. I’m not going. At that time, we must respond hard.
If you do not go here, you have to tell the police station that you cannot afford the first bargain.
I’m dealing with the Indian people who are trying to cheat like this. It was one day that I became a complete fighting chicken.
The memory of this day is still vivid in the film and in the middle of New Delhi in summer over 40 degrees. It is almost a match with Cyclists.
(I do not think this is the most realistic view of India in Rickshaw.) Rickshaw, I would like to ask you for more. The story suddenly passes through the nerves. I held a local youth and complained.
The teenager told me that he should give me more money in English when he heard about rickshaw.
I tried to make more money because of the Riksha knight but the locals I just gave it.
But my appearance suddenly became very shameful. You cannot just afford a few pennies to fight like this.
The Rikshawala are a complete lower-class and cannot escape from the shadow of my life forever in spite of hard labour.
Those who are left with only a bare foot, they are filled with drugs (Paan, locals chewing mouths) to overcome painful physical labour).
Only their attitude to change their words is a problem. I was embarrassed when I was stingy.
Why did I come on this trip? Are you here to win in a bargain with local Indians? It’s a foreigner. Even if I use a rip off, it does not hinder me to eat and live.
I was embarrassed when I was stingy. Will they just close their eyes to the practices of locals trying to put a bar on foreign tourists?
This is a controversial issue among travellers. If you give more money to the poor, they are increasingly considered only on foreign tourists. They are not helping themselves and I also agree with these points. That’s the reason why I have never wanted to be scammed by locals in India.
But … Cyclical, and other caste system would not it be nice for the poorest people in the bottom class to pretend not to know?
If we get scammed, our money is a few thousand won level. If you have some room I decided to understand it with generosity.
If you go around the streets, you will realize that India is the world’s second largest population country. A lot of people are pouring.
There are many different people, but we can see vividly the serious polarization of India, such as beggars, boomers, and the lowest classes. The unequal identity system, which started with a solid caste system that has been going on for thousands of years, has a high economic growth rate of 7% per annum, but the mistake of growth is unknown.
No matter how much youth unemployment is in Korea. It is said that young people have no future but when compared to India with extreme social inequality, it was thought that our complaints might be a luxury.
Since my trip to India, I have come to appreciate my daily life. Parents who are healthy and have a strong support for their children are really great. Thank you for your daily life.
Travel before, I like the 20 youths Republic of Korea mediocre to come to suffer from relative deprivation compared with the others after the trip, I want at a more inside was free and faithful people in my urge others gaze without paying more attention you what only I like to live some life I wanted to see more.
Before the trip I also like Korea’s ordinary twenties. I was suffering from relative deprivation compared to others. After the trip, you want more inside I became free and faithful to my needs.
Of course, the changes after the trip
Whenever you encounter the fierce reality of Korea, I am shaken.
But the great gift that the trip from India gave me a valuable experience which made my inner surface hard, extreme chaos and disorder, a little enlighten after experiencing the process, so thanks to the country of India.
