The number of people suffering from eye diseases and eye fatigue is rising eventually. Like any other organ of your body, the eyes also need some care and precautions. The good news is you can improve and nurture your eyesight naturally with some effective steps.

In this article, you will get some of the fastest and most natural ways including food habits and a few easy eye exercises to improve and protect your eyesight.

Eye

Vitamin A-rich food for eyes

Vitamins A, C, and E as well as the mineral zinc are essential for your eyesight. Zinc contains antioxidants that can protect the macula — the part of the eye that controls central vision. Food sources for these important nutrients are carrots, red peppers, broccoli, spinach, strawberries, sweet potatoes, and citrus. Salmon and flaxseed are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and are also good for eye health. A few other nutrients like lutein and zeaxanthin which are carotenoids found in the retina help to improve eyesight. You can find these carotenoids in leafy green vegetables, zucchini, and eggs.

Do exercise to improve eyesight

Exercise and maintaining a healthy weight can help your eyes. Type 2 diabetes can cause damage to the tiny blood vessels in the eyes. Excessive sugar circulating in your bloodstream injures the small arteries in your retina and harms your vision. This condition is called diabetic retinopathy. Type 2 diabetes is more common in people who are overweight or obese. Doctors say, to check your blood sugar level and weight regularly to reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and its other complications.

Regular exercise can help you to maintain a healthy weight as obesity also affects your vision.

Wear Protective Sunglasses

Use sunglasses that block 99 to 100 percent of UVA and UVB radiation from sunlight. It helps protect your eyes from cataracts, macular degeneration, and pterygium. Pterygium is a growth of tissue over the white part of the eye which leads to astigmatism. Astigmatism can cause blurred vision.

Your eyes also need comfort which you can give with Sunglasses.

Use Blue Ray Eye Glass

You can use blue light protector glass in your spectacle to reduce digital eye strain. Experts suggest using it only while working on digital screens. Kids shouldn’t use this glass. Enable reading mode or night mode on your gadget to reduce the blue light reflection.

Quit Smoking

Smoking also raises your risk of developing cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. The good news is your eyes, lungs, heart, and other body parts can start to recover from years of smoking-induced harm within the first hours of quitting. The longer you can avoid cigarettes, the more your eyes and other organs will benefit.

Smoking is not only harmful to your lungs but also to your eyesight.

Palming

It is an easy eye exercise that relieves eye strain and boosts eyesight. Simply rub your palms together to generate heat. Then gently place your palm over your eyes for a few seconds. Repeat it 5–7 times.

Eye rolling

It is another easy exercise that you can do anytime. Start by rolling your eyes in a clockwise direction. Take a break after a few minutes. Roll the eyes in the anti-clockwise direction. Do it 5 times.

Blinking

Blinking comes to us naturally. When we see a laptop or mobile screen, we often forget to blink naturally which leads to dryness of the eyes. Between your work, close your eyes for 2 seconds. Then open and blink rapidly for 5 seconds. Make sure you have a blank wall right in front of you. Repeat it 5–7 times.

20–20–20 Rule

This is one of the most popular eye exercises anyone can follow. While you are continuously working on your laptop or mobile, every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds only.

Palming, Eye rolling, Blinking, and the 20–20–20 rule are the easiest eye exercises that you can do anytime.

Conclusion

Do regular eye checkups by an ophthalmologist which is the most important for your precious eyes. You can use doctor’s prescribed eye drops to ease your dry eyes. Washing your hands, eating vitamin-rich foods, or watching your weight — all are the key steps toward better eyesight. Living a healthier lifestyle and protecting your eyes from the sun and foreign objects can protect your vision.

The Eye Is The Jewel Of The Body.
