Reasons You Will Quit at The Thing You Are Passionate About.
How not to quit.
We usually think that people quit because they never have enough passion to pursue the things they are chasing. It sometimes never occurs to us that someone could quit on something that would give them the most fulfillment; something they love so much in the first place. You will find a person who once enjoyed painting but gave up on it, or one who loved the teaching profession loathing the classroom. You have probably some time in your life given up on a few things you once loved. Things you never imagined you could ever give up on.
Here are a few reasons why this happens a lot often.
- Work without play.
No matter how much you love doing something, if you overdo it without giving yourself rest, you burn out. The inconvenience that you get from depriving yourself of any off time, will be correlated to that particular thing you love. This means that you might get to a point where if someone mentions the thing you once loved, you think of the severe backache you got from the countless hours you spent hunched on that particular thing, for example, coding. There is a limit to how much the body can take. The brain will not accept to stay on one task for days-long activities. It is important to always take breaks off that work you are passionate about no matter how interesting you find it. In your breaks, you could read a book chapter, or play some soccer. Whatever you do, do not stay so long on an activity just because you love it.
2. Expecting monetary reward for your passion in a short time.
It is a satisfying thing to be able to make money from doing something you love to do. It’s what we all pray for anyway; to survive the imprisonment of bosses who give us tasks we hate and expect us to put passion into doing the work. Many times, however, we find ourselves unable to escape that imprisonment even if we have a passion we could monetize. The reason is usually that we expect the fun of doing the things we love to match the monetary reward for doing those things. In reality, however, for the fun to match the monetary reward, a person has to be patient to wait for the maturity of that business they so much love. Once you think of reward in terms of money, it sometimes becomes hard for you to notice that you have made progress, and once you cannot progress, you will quit. it is important to be patient with your passion, and, additionally, make a plan to measure progress in other terms than money. what good is the money if the activity that brings it to you makes you sad? Work with patience and the money eventually comes.
3. Fear of failure.
Severally, people do not give a short to something they would love mostly because they fear the competition. They tell themselves that the market for something they would love to sell is already saturated. This causes them to never attempt in the first place. If only we all could know that the fear of failure is the first cause of failure, then we could attempt activities more and fail less. We could succeed more.
4. Fear of criticism.
Lastly in this article, many people fear what others will say about their passions so they quit. they think they will be judged for what they love. Indeed everyone is judged for what they do by some people at some point, so why think of judgment when pursuing your passions? I do not like judgy people, but I do not care if they exist or not. If we could all care less about them, we would be more confident in our decisions.
