Ever noticed how these herbs add so much aromatic and flavorsome touch to our Asian foods? It surely does, right? Whether it is used for garnishing purposes or cooking purposes, it works amazingly in both aspects. But do these herbs just have a captivating smell or are they a good source of better health too?

So what is Herb? They are the leafy parts of plants that do not have woody stems. They can be fresh or dried. Though dried herbs have a stronger flavor than fresh but lose their strength quickly.

Here we’re talking about just a few of them with their advantages.

  1. Coriander leaves:

Let’s talk about my favorite one first, fresh coriander leaves look and taste great in every dish it is used. You may also use coriander seeds for cooking. It is a very good source of vitamins A, C, and K, with traces of the B vitamins. It may help lower your blood sugar, fight infections, and promote heart, brain, skin, and digestive health.

2. Mint leaves:

It is characterized by a sweet flavor coupled with a cooling sensation and a soothing after-taste. It can be used fresh or dried to create a distinct taste in curries, soups, chutneys, salads, juices, and ice cream. Consuming mint has great benefits for the body, as it cools down the digestive tract, or it can even provide relief from abdominal pain.

3. Curry leaves:

It is commonly used for seasoning, it is packed with carbohydrates, fiber, calcium, phosphorous, iron, and vitamins A, B C, and E, the curry leaves strengthen your heart functions, fight infections, and can enrich your hair and skin with vitality.

4. Bay leaves:

Research has confirmed numerous health benefits of Bay leaves, especially in the case of diabetes and heart diseases as it contains enzymes that break down proteins and promote healthy digestion. The antioxidants found in it aid in the absorption of insulin, which delivers a powerful health effect on the whole body. Also used as a natural remedy for headaches, besides providing a strong defense against the common cold.

5. Oregano:

It goes well in tomato-based dishes, including pizza sauces, and meats. It also works well with the flavors of most vegetables. It is high in antioxidants and may help fight off bacteria and viruses, potentially reduce the growth of cancer cells and help alleviate inflammation.
