As Gainesville, Georgia continues to grow at a rapid pace, so does the restaurant business. Here are a few of the new hot spots that recently opened and those still to come!

Recently Open!

  1. Kelley’s Tavern

The hottest new high end, sports bar style restaurant is here! Kelley’s Tavern opened close to a month ago and everyone is loving it. Taking the location of the former Gainesville icon, Pepper’s Market, Kelley’s Tavern is giving this spot new life.

2. Pure Pho & Grill

Gainesville has been needing a pho place for a long time and guess what now it is HERE! Located off Dawsonville Highway, this spot features delicious and complex broth with your choice of two toppings. I got the shrimp and vegetables, it was definitely one of the best bowls of pho I’ve ever had. Have kids? Be sure to bring them to Pure Pho to enjoy the robot who brings your food to the table while playing Mr. Worldwide. With other classic Vietnamese dishes on the menu, there are plenty options to choose from for the whole family.

3. Zuarepa

The pork arepa from Zuarepa

If you haven’t had an arepa here yet…. you’re missing out. Simple as that. Zuarepa features Venezuelan street food like arepas, empanadas, and you can chase it all with papelón con limón. We got the Zuarepa fried with pork and it was absolutely delicious. This is a great spot for hanging out with the family while eating delicious food.

4. Standard Service

Gainesville’s newest hot spot just opened. With self serve beer, a brand new patio, and a top of the line menu. This new spot comes from the owners of Hampton + Hudson in Atlanta. The overall branding and atmosphere of the former gas station make this the perfect spot to hang out and grab a drink or split an app on a first date. Standard Service opened yesterday and we are absolutely pumped to try it this weekend.

Coming Soon!

  1. Consuelo

Spots on the Gainesville Square aren’t easy to come by and Consuelo grabbed a good one. Taking the location of the former Little Italy Pizza, which lasted just 5 days, this Mexican joint is sure to be a good one.

2. Soco Kitchen

From the creators of Gainesville Seafood Market comes a Southern Coast inspired cuisine. The facelift of the former Denny’s is exciting to see and we can’t wait for it to open. As big fans of Gainesville Seafood Market, we know its going to be great!

3. Taqueria Tsunami

Asian Cauliflower tacos from Taqueria Tsunami

Taqueria Tsunami might be a name you recognize if you’re from the Metro Atlanta or Athens area. With their newest location coming to the Gainesville Renaissance, we are absolutely thrilled. Taqueria Tsunami has long been a favorite of ours and we try to go whenever we are in Athens. With the Asian and Mexican fusion menu, combined with stellar cocktails, this is going to be an integral part of the Gainesville food scene. The owners have also green lighted a new concept restaurant with a Head Chef friend of theirs that will be located just a few doors down. This spot will feature high end Italian and pizza.

4. Peyton’s Pie Co

With the growth of Gainesville comes the second location of Peyton’s Pie Co. This incredible pizza spot features 36 hour dry aged crust and a classic Neapolitan style. The second location will take the places of the former book store in Magnolia Market. It will share the seating with Sweet Magnolia and Cork It. Peyton’s Pie Co is exactly what Cork It needed and will complete the perfect night out.

Bonus : Nothing Bundt Cakes

Bundt Cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes

Also coming to the Gainesville area is Nothing Bundt Cakes! This expansion of the company is coming to the New Holland Market next to the new Taco Mac and McAllister’s Deli. Nothing Bundt Cakes features a wide array of bundt cakes that are oh so moist and have a decadent icing on top.

To think we aren’t even scratching the surface of all the great new places to eat in Gainesville, Georgia. Which ones are you most excited about?
