Repeat after me, and Your current Career isn’t your last.

Don’t think like that.

Today, I’m not going to bore you with a long post.

I know you are busy. But do you have two minutes?

If yes, then please read a quick story about my friend. It may change your perspective a bit.

My 20-year old friend graduated from university with a Bachelor’s degree. (I don’t want to share his name.). After trying months for jobs, he was unable to get an interview call. His career path is in the travel industry, which you know is not booming after the Covid-19 scenario.

As this industry has no new job opportunities so he applied in the insurance industry.

He felt sad instead of feeling happy once he got a job there.

On the first day, he wasn’t excited at all to go to the office. Why? Because he always wanted to do a job in a travel company.

But he accepted an insurance job after following this simple life approach “Something is better than nothing.”

After a week, he was crying literally.

It wasn’t the job he wanted or dreamt of.

In the second week, he tried hard to focus on the task at hand but still found no charm; No fun.

Deep down, he was like, what is all that. I didn’t study hard to end up with a commission-based job.

I don’t want to be here. Why is the economy so out of control and uncertain?

As he was a new employee, the manager was closely monitoring him.

And in the third week, the manager introduced him to a life coach.

After spending ten minutes with that coach, my friend noticed a difference in his attitude, and his perspective changed about this job.

And guess what, he closed his very first deal after two days and gave us a party.

I asked him what had changed now.

Why are you not feeling bad anymore?

He said that a 10-min session with a life coach changed me.

I asked how.

He replied ‘The Coach motivated me and changed my way of looking at this career.’

The Coach told him that this current career is temporary, and learning from this career will help him do better on his dream job.

Besides, that career expert shares some life tips to boost focus on the job, feeling happy about his current situation, and on top of it all, how to be successful at his current job.

My friend is now determined to learn essential career skills in the insurance industry. He planned to use this learning later in the travel industry.

Here are four lessons to learn from this short story.

Lesson №1 Your Current Career isn’t your Last, don’t feel like it won’t change ever.

Lesson №2 A career Coach can Help you When No One can

Lesson №3 Maybe you don’t start from your Dream career, but always learn some skills at your existing One. This skill learning paves the path toward your dream job.
