I wrote this story about how UK Net Neutrality is Under Threat. Then, things started to get weird. [Edit: Upon reflection, I think that someone corrupt wanted my ISP address and location. They may now have it.]

I went on Reddit to share the UK Net Neutrality is Under Threat story. I wish I had screenshotted where I posted it but I didn’t.

Then, I posted the link on two subs that would allow me to. While I wasn’t online this user account posed a strange link in reply.

I now think that the link had two purposes.

  1. Look like it came from a trustworthy source to me (a similar looking woman)
  2. Look like a reason to remove the post to a sub.

It served both purposes well.

The text was very different to the URL. There is no https://Luisa_Dillon.com

The link when clicked took me to a Japanese pornography page. Which explains why both this link and my own link were so quickly taken down by mods.

What doesn’t make sense is that this link leads to a bizarre blogspot tracking-link.

Please don’t visit it.

[Edit: I originally put the whole code here but I have since omitted it.]

If it was a real porn link and just trying to attract business this wouldn’t be the case. Someone is trying to achieve a goal other than make me aroused by sending me pictures of beautiful Japanese women.

I just don’t know what yet. [Edit: I think I maybe do, get my ISP address and location]

I’m not going to click on the link again by the way, I’m going to ask some of my more technically knowledgeable friends about this.

[Edit: I did. I know, I know, but first I set my VPN to a different location and sure enough instead of Japanese beauties I was greeted by some lovely American blonde ladies. Only for a moment though. The browser auto-closed because all it was doing was sending server requests for my IP Address, in fact I’m pretty sure the ‘pornography distraction’ was chosen based on my IP address.]

Oh no! The bad guys might know where I live, or where a dude called Junichi lives. Whatever.

They can watch everything I do on the internet if they keep sending me porn.

Anyway, back to Reddit.

The other link I posted wasn’t ignored, it was responded to, but it was posted in a ‘free talk’ section so couldn’t get much attention. The exchange is below.

The Redditor I was talking to was concerned about a bill which is due to be passed in the UK which will make protesting in the UK much harder. I posted a link to the UK Gov website but in retrospect I probably should have linked to this article about it by the BBC.

We discussed how the combination of the protest ban bill and the net neutrality attack could impact the UK in light of the events currently unfolding in Russia. There Google News was just banned as part of the Government assault on internet access and protesters are being arrested and beaten there on a daily basis.

We don’t want the same thing to happen in the UK, not now, not ever and not even incrementally.
