Today, we had the final lecture of the series based on the hyper-connected world.
This particular lecture was really informative about the current world around us in terms of technology and in some ways was relatively spooky. One part of the lecture I found particularly interesting was when Marshall McLuhan was referenced and where he spoke the future from a 1964 perspective and was more or less spot on. What I found particularly chilling but fascinating from this, is that with this logic, the current ideas of our technological future seem to become more and more realistic and predictable.

Secondly, later on in the lecture, Ally mentioned how the internet today allows us to sit within an echo chamber as we are so connected that we cannot break past the wall of alternative opinions, perspectives and ideas. This is actually really relevant to my essay where I’ll be discussing how garphic design has the ability to open perspectives outside of our own bubble.
Finally, I found it really interesting how Ally mentioned that Covid has enforced and sped up our understanding of technological communication and connection; just reminded me of how relevant it is as a subject as the moment, but also how makes me wonder; how long would these advancements have taken if we were not going through this pandemic?
