pEOS is a token on eosio that is working on enabling private and untraceable transactions on EOS main chain. On the 15th of February, we took a snapshot for pEOS, shortly after on the 25th of February we started airdropping PEOS tokens 1:1 to EOS according to our snapshot.
As described in pEOS whitepaper and in multiple posts like the ones here, here, here and here, there was given a two month period for people to claim their PEOS tokens either by using them to transact or using the claim functionality in our site.
The burning event
On April 26th 2019, at 6:06 AM UTC, the pEOS bonfire started. Βy about 4 hours later, 38% of the total PEOS supply, that amounts to about 480,000,000 PEOS, were toast. It’s important to note that the PEOS tokens that were burnt are removed forever from circulation and now pEOS has a fixed total supply of about 770,000,000 PEOS. See the table bellow for more details on how the total supply changed after the burn.
*As always Dev team’s PEOS tokens are vested for 400 days starting from the 25th of February when the airdrop started.
The road ahead
Even though we are still in the beginning, the journey so far was thrilling. In the following months and as we reach the end of Q2, we are looking to deploy a testnet version of the pEOS contract capable of verifying pEOS transactions. Moreover we are going to be sharing with the community our vision of the pEOS wallet application to provide a taste of the final user experience of onboarding and transacting with pEOS. It is important to note here that we are still proponents of having other third party wallets adopting private and untraceable pEOS transactions functionality, but we are also planning to also release our solution.
