Most of our community members have downloaded the PAL Wallet and successfully swapped their ERC20 PAL tokens to native PAL. We have received many incoming enquiries regarding Supernode staking, hence we hope that this article will guide you step by step to run a Supernode.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. When are the Supernode incentives distributed?
The distribution is on a monthly basis. The incentive rewards will only be distributed after the token swap is completed at the end of Q1, which is around end March. The first batch of distribution in end March will be up to 3 months of incentives if the address qualifies.
  2. What does “processed package” mean?
1 package contains multiple transactions, where the supernode will validate.
  3. Can we only run one Supernode from one computer?
Yes, you can only run one Supernode from one computer. You cannot run 2 Supernodes on the same computer. It has to be on different PCs and separate accounts to run more than 1 Supernode.
  4. Do we need the wallet app to be running all the time?
Yes, and with a stable internet connection.
  5. Do we need VPS (Virtual Private Server) to run the nodes?
Not at the moment, as we want to make Supernodes simple for everyone. Any Windows or Mac with the PAL Wallet app can run a Supernode.
  6. Will there be a wallet for Linus / VPS to run a Supernode?
We are currently gathering the demand and will plan this build for our future release.
  7. It’s not very convenient to have the PAL Wallet open 24/7 on a Mac/Windows computer. I was expecting a VPS setup!
We do not require a VPS setup as our intention is to make running a Supernode simple for everyone. Like our microinsurance products, we also include non-crypto users — likewise, for Supernodes, we want to make the barriers to entry lower.
  8. How do I know if I am one of the Early Bird Supernode applicants?
You need to run your Supernode with the same address you used to register during the Early Bird rounds. (Tip: an ETH private key will unlock the same address in PAL)
  9. What are the prerequisites for running a Supernode?
So long as you hold 100k PAL in the PAL Wallet and run in any Windows or Mac PC with stable internet connection.
  10. Is it mandatory to register for a Supernode before running one into the PAL Wallet?
Yes, you are required to first register for a Supernode before you run it.
  11. Does the PAL Wallet have to be open 24/7 for a month to receive the monthly Supernode incentives?
At the moment in order to qualify for the reward, your node will need to process at least 1 transaction per month. However, we would advise keeping the Supernode online often to process more transactions as the requirements may increase over time.
  12. What are the incentives of Supernodes and Masternodes?
We published an article not too long ago, have a read here for a clearer understanding of the incentives.

Get Started with Running a Supernode

To reiterate, the prerequisites of running a Supernode to meet include:

  • Holding at least 100,000 native PAL
  • Having the PAL Wallet desktop app

Step 1: Register for a Supernode

Download the PAL desktop wallet. After which, on the left panel, under the ‘Menu’ tab, select ‘Supernode’.

Proceed to select ‘Register’ if you want to run a Supernode. You may wish to click on the link before registration to read our article debunking the Supernode rewards you can receive in the best and worst case scenarios.

Step 2: Begin to Run Supernode

If you meet the minimum requirement of 100,000 PAL to register as a Supernode, you will be directed to the following page.

Select ‘Begin Supernode’ to run your Supernode. Do bear in mind that you are required to keep the desktop app running for the Supernode. That is all it takes to run a Supernode!

You can also track the real-time statistics of the number of Supernodes running, together with your package history and package details within the same page.
