An Interview with Pearl Lam and Suhair Khan
In episode thirteen of The Pearl Lam Podcast, gallerist Pearl Lam meets Artificial Intelligence expert, Suhair Khan. The pair strike up a compelling discussion regarding AI, its current role and what it means for our future.
Pearl Lam (林明珠) and Suhair Khan recently sat down in the fabulous London Design Museum in the heart of the city to film the latest episode of The Pearl Lam Podcast. During this episode, Suhair Khan and Pearl Lam (林明珠) discuss the ever-increasing role of Artificial Intelligence within our lives.
Suhair Khan is an Artificial Intelligence expert, creative leader and entrepreneur with a background in culture and technology. In 2021, Suhair founded Open-Ended Design, a platform that serves as a creative incubator and research lab for emerging tech and AI.
In this episode of The Pearl Lam Podcast, Suhair Khan speaks to Pearl Lam (林明珠) about her belief in the positive impact of the intersection between technology and culture, which drives her mission to expand the idea of technology and AI as a hopeful force in the world.
Suhair Khan and Pearl Lam discuss artificial intelligence and the positive influence that it is having on art, creativity and education. Pearl Lam learns that for Suhair, the inception of modern AI has changed what it means to be human.
Suhair Khan asks the burning questions, asking Pearl Lam: “What does AI mean for our children? If we are to survive Climate Change through the temperature increase of 1.5 degrees Celsius, what kind of world do we want to build? Until we start to have these kinds of conversations at leadership level, we are still leaving it in the hands of corporate boards.”
When asked about the future of AI by Pearl Lam, Suhair Khan replied that “the truth of AI is that it is going to take away a lot of jobs. It is going to change, through automation, a lot of how industry is run.”
Suhair Khan continued, asking Pearl Lam, ‘what does this mean for young people? It means that they are going to have to find new ways of creating value. In some ways it is going to liberate them.”
As AI becomes more accessible to all of us, it is creating a confluence between what is right, what is wrong, what is the truth and what is meaning.
Pearl Lam and Suhair Khan both pose the question to their audience, what is the future of this technology?
Although it is impossible to tell what the future of AI will have in store for us, it is clear that we must be braced for change, whatever form it may come in.
