A taint is a colored repellant spray for a ship. For example, if the ship is sprayed blue, only blue pods are allowed on it. A pink pod will be repelled by the ship. And the scheduler will have to find another pod that can accommodate the pink pod.

Toleration: a colored immunizing spray for a pod. Toleration is applied to the pod or a resource. For example, a ship is tainted blue and the pod has the toleration of blue (having been sprayed blue itself). Since they both have the same color, the pod can be deployed on the ship.

When you create a namespace think of it as yourself outlining a quarantined area on the deck of EVERY ship in the fleet.

Any kind of resources deployed is placed in the area.

Let’s say I have a namespace called prod. This means that every single node will have an area called prod. The area can be empty or it can be filled with resources. So when you run a quick search of pods in prod, it searches only that particular “quarantined” area.
