Impulsive Shopping — Mistakes to Avoid While Purchasing Clothes🛍

We cannot forget the famous dialogue from Pyaar ka Punchnama movie on shopping, “she spent 5 hours in the mall and bought useless slippers rather than a table, for which we went there.” — trust me guys this is so true — I went with my sister to buy footwear and wandered around for 4 hours only to end up buying a t-shirt.

If you are doing window shopping just to keep yourself busy while waiting, that's understandable, but if you are inside the shop with a purpose and don’t know what you want — your priorities aren’t clear my friend.

The urge to spend recklessly on shopping without proper planning won’t just hurt your bank balance but also clutter the wardrobe.

I remember being an aggressive shopper and spending hastily on pieces that didn’t reflect my style. I kept them in my wardrobe thinking ‘I would wear them someday, but that day never said Hi to me’ — and all of a sudden that one day became a year.

96% of women failed to crack this code — My closet is full of clothes but I have nothing to wear!!

Cluttered Closet

So, here we gonna discuss a few things that will take you one step closer to effective and healthy shopping:

✔ Buy clothes that can be paired with at least 3 to 5 items that already exist in your closet. If you are looking to buy trousers (eg, green color), then there must be at least 3 t-shirts in your wardrobe or shirts that can be paired with that trousers.

✔ Invest in pieces that you are going to wear 80% of the time — the place where you spend most of your time, it could be your office, school, site, or home. If you spend 5 days of the week at work, try investing in sarees, salwar suits, trousers, shirts, etc. If you working from home, invest in comfortable and quality lounge pants.

✔ Avoid buying seasonal trend clothes that can fade away with time. Trends last only for a few years, so keep a little bit of distance from fast fashion brands.

✔ 33% of women prefer online shopping, so here’s a golden tip for online buyers —if you want to know whether you are an impulsive shopper or not then try to keep the item in your cart for 5 to 7 days but don’t make a purchase. Eventually, after a few days, you will realize whether the item is worth buying or is it a rash decision.

✔ Avoid buying clothes that look good on celebrities/influencers, there is a high chance that they would not fulfill your expectations, as most of these clothes are custom-made according to different body shapes and sizes.

Decluttered Wardrobe

✔ Clothes that are too big or small and need alterations is one of the common mistakes. You cannot go for tailoring every time you buy a piece, trust me it’s a real hassle, rather buy clothes that fit perfectly and are tailored.

✔ Before leaving for shopping, thoroughly check your wardrobe and make a list of items that are missing. Eg. if you need a white shirt try to stick to your plan or soon you may need to visit the shopping center.

✔ If you feel like trying something new or adding something different to your wardrobe invest in jewelry and other accessories that can elevate your outfit — Sunglasses, Chic Handbags, Satin Scarf, etc.

Just be mindful while making a purchase, so that you won’t regret it later. And if you still feel that your wardrobe isn’t giving you a warm hug, then allow me to assist you with shopping and styling.
