As the new year has begun, we wanted to collect all the wonderful things that have happened to us last year. It’s a quite pretty list, thanks to YOU!
- The first big thing of the year was the launch of the MONO collection. We have received many feedback that our customers would like to see Pikkpacks in full black or full brown colour so we introduced the MONOs on the 28th of February.
2. Our brand is very committed to contribute in developing a more sustainable footwear industry. After a thorough research, we have found and started testing a vegan material that could be a good substitute to leather. This project is still on and hopefully the vegan Pikkpacks will be launched by 2016. Fingers crossed!
3. Sari was nominated for the Glamour Women of the Year 2015 prize in the accessory designer category, which was a real honor to her. The Glamour Awards is hosted by Glamour magazine every year to hand out different awards to honor inspirational women from a variety of fields. Check out the video about her from 1:28.
4. We launched our new website where there is more focus on the customer experience and people can customize their Pikkpacks.
5. Pikkpacks were showcased on the opening page of WeTransfer, in Glamour UK and British GQ Magazine.
6. We launched the new slip-ons with rubber soles, available in 3 sole colours. Less slippery, more playful, more comfortable, more Pikkpack.
7. Pikkpacks were featured at the STEP BY STEP shoe exhibition during the Cracow Fashion Week 2015 and also at the SÄRFITUD / PINSOL Exhibition in the Design and Architecture Gallery Tallinn, Estonia.
8. Sari was the jury of a design competition initiated by Fiat. In the framework of the Projekt X Design Competition, the applicants designed a new car accessory for the Fiat 500 X model.
9. Hanna finished her research and diploma on participatory design (which subject is strongly connected to our philosophy) and successfully graduated from MOME.
10. With the help of Daniel Szoke and Nikol Cibulya, we shot a new image video, that was also featured at the Budapest Design Film Festival.
11. We created a “How it’s made” video in our factory in Martfű at Deszán Kft. Local manufacturing is essential to us therefore we would like to introduce and make visible all the people that work hard on our product. The video was the first step and we will shortly publish more information and an extensive profile of our partners.
12. In September we introduced a new model to the great public, the Pikkpack Sandal which was also part of Sara’s diploma collection. A new feminine boho-chic style with the same ethics as the “old” Pikkpack slip-on.
13. Sara and Andras, our two founders has got married!!!! They had a beautiful wedding and an amazing party on the countryside.
14. Our home, the The Design 9 Studio participated in the Design Week Budapest where Sara organized a Crowdfunding Meetup.
15. A big highlight of 2015 was the collaboration with Supermundane, London based graphic designer and the launch of the Supermundane x Pikkpack screen-printed slip-on. Read more about our encounter and work with Supermundane here.
16. Sari has been featured in many TV shows, interviews, radio programmes, such as Ridikül Talk Show , Rúzs És Selyem Tv Interview, Hellodesign.org interview, Neighbourart.com , LeCool Budapest Interview…
17. The busiest day of the last year was Black Friday when we received unexpectedly high amount of orders. Media wise, the highlight of the year was when Design Milk featured us on its Instagram feed.
18. Last, but not least, it’s very important to mention two friends that have helped us a lot along the way. We had a pleasure to meet and work with Maryam Mazraei, Holly Seprus and the RoadRun-R team.
Of course, there so many other great people who we have to say thank you to, but this blog post would be endless if we wanted to list everybody who have helped us. Hope that all of you stay with us in 2016 too! CHEERS!
